A cable-jacket removal tool is described. The tool includes cutting unit that provides a cutting cylinder that carries a blade and a die. The blade is adjustable to provide a desired depth of cut into the cable jacket. The die is interchangeable and selectable based on a diameter or gage of cable to be stripped. A drive unit that is adapted to be driven by a common, handheld, battery operated drill is also provided. The drive unit rotates the cutting cylinder and the blade carried thereby about the circumference of the cable. The drill is coupled to the drive unit such that the axis of rotation of the drill and the cutting cylinder are substantially parallel and an operator can easily apply a force on the tool via the drill in a direction substantially parallel to those axes of rotation.

Tooling sensing and calibration apparatus and method

A method and apparatus to verify that proper tooling has been installed in a cable preparation apparatus and/or to calibrate the tooling prior to running the cable preparation apparatus with a cable inserted therein. The method includes: inserting a reference device between blades of the cable preparation device; moving the blades inward toward the reference device until the blades engage the reference device; collecting data to determine when the blades engage the reference device; and comparing the collected data of the blades to an expected range of data of the reference device, wherein if the collected data of the blades does not conform to the expected range of data of the reference device the tooling is not validated, and the apparatus alerts the user.

CUTTING ARM FOR A CABLE PREPARATION MACHINE

A cutting arm includes a base having a post receiving passageway extending through the base, a cutting assembly attached to the base, and a sliding plate attached to the base and movable with respect to the base between an engaging position and a releasing position. The sliding plate engages a post disposed in the post receiving passageway in the engaging position and releasably secures the cutting arm to the post.

STRIPPING METHOD FOR CONDUCTOR ELEMENTS FOR A HAIRPIN COIL

A method of manufacturing a plurality of conductor elements includes providing the plurality of conductor elements, each conductor element includes a conductor end section having an electrically insulating surface coating; securing the conductor end sections of the conductor elements with respect to each other; and simultaneously removing at least a portion of the electrically insulating surface coatings of the conductor end sections using a machining surface of a stripping tool being moved along the conductor end sections.

Cut-away cutting tool

A cut-away cutting tool has two slit forming blade portions and a peeling blade portion interposed between the two slit forming blade portions. The two slit forming blade portions respectively form slits on an insulating coating of a flat conductor wire. On the other hand, the peeling blade portion peels off a portion of the insulating coating between the slits formed by the two slit forming blade portions.

CABLE PREPARATION MACHINE HAVING ARCING CONTOUR BLADES

A cable preparation machine includes a frame forming a cable cutting zone, the frame having a cable opening along a cable axis at the cable cutting zone receiving an end of a cable. The cable preparation machine includes a pulley assembly rotatably coupled to the frame about the cable axis and a drive assembly operably coupled to the pulley assembly to rotate the pulley assembly about the cable axis. The cable preparation machine includes a blade assembly operably coupled to the pulley assembly and rotated with the pulley assembly about the cable axis. The blade assembly includes a blade having an arcuate cutting edge configured for cutting an insulator from the end of the cable.

Cable Foil Processing Equipment

A cable foil layer processing equipment includes a rack, a knife holder installed on the rack, a plurality of cutters movably installed on the knife holder and arranged in a crisscross manner in a vertical plane, and a linear moving mechanism configured to move linearly in a horizontal direction parallel to an axial direction of a cable. The rack is installed on the linear moving mechanism so as to move linearly in the horizontal direction along with the linear moving mechanism. The cutters clamp a foil layer of the cable in a radial direction of the cable. The linear moving mechanism drives the knife holder to move in the horizontal direction so as to cut the foil layer of the cable into a plurality of equal parts.
