20170288455 · 2017-10-05 ·

Prediction of electrical power system behavior, and related systems, apparatuses, and methods are disclosed. A controller includes a data storage device configured to store model data for time points of a time period of operation. The controller also includes a processor configured to determine current data for time points of a current time period of operation. The current time period corresponds to an early portion of the time period of the model data. The controller is also configured to fit the model data to the current data to produce predicted data, a future portion of the predicted data corresponding to time points occurring after the early portion of the time period of the model data. The controller is further configured to determine values for a set of control variables to effectuate a change to operation of the electrical power system based on the future portion of the predicted data.

Method of controlling a power network

A method is provided for controlling a power network that includes a plurality of power generation facilities connected to an electricity grid and a plurality of power storage facilities connected to the power generation facilities. The method includes monitoring a production capacity of the power generation facilities, monitoring a storage capacity of the power storage facilities and determining an optimal facility control plan on the basis of the storage capacity and the production capacity. The method further includes operating the power network, according to the facility control plan, to feed power from the power generation facilities into the electricity grid and/or to transfer power from the power generation facilities to the power storage facilities and/or to consume power from the power storage facilities.

Collaborative load balancing within a community of energy nodes

A system for collaborative load balancing within a community of energy nodes includes a central allocation control device and local agent devices each associated with an energy node. The local agent devices solve an optimization problem over a planning horizon and communicate the solution to the central allocation control device. The central allocation control device uses the solutions in an allocation algorithm so as to determine an amount of energy which will be received from or supplied to individual ones of the energy nodes and provide the collaborative load balancing within the community.

METHOD TO HEAT WATER IN AN ELECTRICAL BOILER, CORRESPONDING DEVICE AND ELECTRICAL BOILER

A method and a device to heat water in an electrical boiler are disclosed. The method include the steps of storing user's requests of hot water in association with corresponding times of requests, heating water in advance to a next user's request, wherein the next user's request is estimated on the stored user's requests. The device is the hardware implementing the method.

STANDALONE ADAPTER FOR LOAD CONTROL OF ENERGY STORAGE DEVICES
20170250550 · 2017-08-31 ·

A system, method, and apparatus for a standalone, mobile adapter for load control of energy consuming/storage devices. Adapter includes a power management module (“PMM”) that generates a simulated power control signal (“PCS”) with a reduced allowable power consumption, compared to an authentic PCS from electric vehicle service equipment (“EVSE”) power supply. An internally or externally controlled switch coupled to the PMM, selectively replaces the authentic PCS with the simulated PCS and communicates it to the load, thereby reducing the load's ability to draw power. The simulated PCS can be controlled and managed remotely by the user, and/or by an aggregating load server to provide value to the EV consumer, and stability and load-levelling to the power grid. Adapter includes functions of metering/measuring energy, regulation of energy consumption, direction of energy flow, safety monitoring, reporting of energy transfer, and location identification.

Technologies for dynamically dispatching generator power

Systems and methods for determining how to dispatch power to a property from a generator are provided. According to certain aspects, a controller associated with the generator may retrieve or access a set of data indicating time of use rates associated with utility power, performance characteristics of the generator, and/or energy usage data. Based on the data, the controller may determine a set point corresponding to when it may be beneficial to dispatch generator power to the property instead of utility power. At the set point, the controller may facilitate supplementing power from utility power with power from the generator. Additionally, the controller may collect usage and performance data associated with dispatch of the generator power.
