An actuation assembly includes a drive mechanism that has an array of magnetic members moveable along an axis, and a gear train that has an input and an output. The drive mechanism causes the input to move in response to generating an electromagnetic field that interacts with at least one of the array of magnetic members.

Power minimizing controller for a stage assembly

A method for moving a stage includes coupling a stage mover to the stage, and directing current to the stage mover with a control system. The stage mover includes a magnet array and a conductor array positioned adjacent to the magnet array. The conductor array includes a first layer of coils and a second layer of coils, with the first layer of coils being closer to the magnet array than the second layer of coils. The control system directs current to the first layer of coils and the second layer of coils independently. Further, the control system directs more current to the first layer of coils than the second layer of coils during a movement step to reduce the power consumption.

Linear flux switching permanent magnet motor

A linear flux switching permanent magnet (FSPM) motor includes a longitudinal linear stator with stator teeth facing an air gap and a mover including at least one armature with armature teeth, whereby at least some of said, preferably all of said armature teeth embed at least one permanent magnet, respectively, which armature teeth are spaced apart by slots for receiving an armature winding. The permanent magnets embedded in the corresponding armature teeth protrude by an overhang over the back of the armature in a direction facing away from the air gap.

Elevator comprising an electric linear motor

The invention relates to an elevator comprising an electric linear motor comprising at least one linear stator designed to be located in a fixed correlation to an environment, particularly building, and at least one mover designed for connection with an elevator car to be moved and co-acting with the stator to move the car, which motor comprises a stator beam supporting said at least one stator, which stator beam has at least one side face carrying ferromagnetic poles of said stator spaced apart by a pitch, and which mover comprises at least one counter-face facing said side face(s) of the stator beam, in which counter-face electro-magnetic components of the mover are arranged to co-act with the ferromagnetic poles mounted on the stator beam, which elevator comprises an elevator brake. According to the invention the side face of the stator beam facing the mover and/or the counter face of the mover facing the side face of the stator beam comprise(s) a brake surface which form(s) the brake interface of the elevator brake.

Permanent magnet synchronous machine and method for manufacturing permanent magnet synchronous machine stator

A permanent magnet synchronous machine includes a stator including a plurality of split core blocks that are continuously arranged in a rotation direction of a rotor. The plurality of split core blocks each includes: a permanent magnet; a pair of teeth arranged on both ends of the permanent magnet so as to sandwich the permanent magnet in the rotation direction; and connection teeth, which are provided on axial end portions of the pair of teeth sandwiching the permanent magnet, and are configured to connect the pair of teeth.

Linear motor curve module with improved geometry

A linear motor system has multiple modular track sections joined end-to-end to form a track along which movers may be displaced by the control of magnetic fields generated by coils disposed in each track section. A curved track section is provided that includes a non-constant radius of curvature that is a non-linear function of the run length along the curved track section. The curved track section may have a number of different radii of curvature, and one or more of them may be based on a non-linear function of the run length. The resulting curvature provides improved dynamic performance of movers driven along the curved track section.
