A personal care brush includes a brush head portion and handle portion with an exposed groove for receiving a first container that stores one to six doses of a facial or oral care product. The groove leads to a channel that runs through the brush head to an opening at a bristle frame side of the brush head. A pushing member is manually advanced along the groove to push product from the first container into the channel and out through the opening. A member located at a backside of the brush head is movable relative to an axis of the toothbrush. The member has a first position for personal care applications and a second position for facilitating exposure of the channel for channel cleaning.

The advancement mechanism can include a system that translates a rotational force applied to an end cap of the applicator into a linear force that advances a piston which in turn applies paint to an applicator portion. The paint applicator may be reusable or may include a ratchet system that allows for only one-time use. The methodology and kit can incorporate a syringe for loading paint into the paint applicator, thus reducing the loss of paint through spilling.

The resilient applicator comprises a working surface that is oriented at an oblique angle to a longitudinal axis of the housing.

An oral care implement for dispensing an oral care agent includes a housing, reservoir therein containing an oral care fluid, and an electrical circuit comprising first and second electrodes connected to an onboard power source. Each electrode is in contact with the oral care fluid in the housing. An actuator, operably coupled to the power source, is configured to both selectively energize the circuit and activate dispensing of the oral care fluid. An electrical charge is applied to the oral care fluid by activating the actuator when dispensing the oral care fluid. When the fluid comprises a peroxide based tooth whitening agent, the dispensed fluid pH is increased by the electrical charge which improves the efficacy of the whitener. In one embodiment, the implement is a modular system including a powered base unit and one or more interchangeable cartridges each having a reservoir containing an oral care fluid.

The housing of the dispenser has at least one protuberance that protrudes radially beyond an outer surface of the handle thereby forming a ridge that a user can grip to remove the dispenser from the cavity of the handle.

An oral care system includes a toothbrush and a dispenser detachably coupled to the toothbrush. The dispenser includes a chamber containing an oral care material. A compression device assembly includes an actuator operably coupled to a compression device movably mounted inside the dispenser. In one embodiment, the actuator may be a ratcheting rocker switch that alternatingly engages gear racks formed on the dispenser housing. Actuating the rocker switch imparts pivotable and indexed linear motion to the switch. This in turn axially translates the compression device in a first longitudinal direction thereby compressing and extruding the oral care material from the dispenser. The corresponding indexed movement of the compression device dispenses predetermined doses of the oral care material providing precise control over the amount of oral care material dispensed.
