PHOTOVOLTAIC MODULE WITH TRANSPARENT PERIMETER EDGES
A system includes a plurality of photovoltaic modules, each having at least one solar cell, an encapsulant encapsulating the solar cell, a frontsheet, and a backsheet. The encapsulant and the frontsheet are transparent. The backsheet includes a first section and a second section juxtaposed with the first section. The first section is transparent and the second section is non-transparent. A first end of the frontsheet, a first end of the encapsulant, and the first section of the backsheet form a transparent portion. A first photovoltaic module overlays at least a portion of a second photovoltaic module. The transparent portion of the first photovoltaic module overlays at least a portion of the at least one solar cell of the second photovoltaic module.
FRAME OF A MODULE FOR A MODULAR PHOTOVOLTAIC SYSTEM, MODULE PRODUCED THEREWITH AND MODULAR PHOTOVOLTAIC SYSTEM
A module frame includes two longitudinal, and two transverse, frame elements. A longitudinal cover fold, with two longitudinal cover fold end areas, extends from the first longitudinal frame element. A transverse cover fold has two transverse cover fold end areas. The second longitudinal cover fold, and second transverse cover fold, end areas, form a cover fold end area. The bottom surface of the longitudinal cover fold is the height of the top surface of the second longitudinal frame element. The bottom surface of the transverse cover fold is the height of the top surface of the second transverse frame element. The bottom surface of the first transverse cover fold end area is the height of the top surface of the first longitudinal cover end area, and the bottom surface of the cover fold end area is the height of the top surface of the first transverse cover end area.
Automated reel processes for producing solar modules and solar module reels
This specification describes automated reel processes for producing solar modules and solar module reels. In some examples, a method includes receiving a continuous feed of photovoltaic devices on a photovoltaic device sheet. The method includes locating and bypassing one or more defective photovoltaic devices on the photovoltaic device sheet. The method includes installing bussing for the photovoltaic devices on the photovoltaic device sheet. The method includes feeding the photovoltaic device sheet to an encapsulation system to output a photovoltaic module sheet.

SOLAR ROOF PANEL SYSTEM WITH EDGE AND SURFACE TREATMENTS
A roof-mounted solar power system for generating electrical power that includes a plurality of solar modules adapted for generating electrical power from sunlight, and with each of the plurality of solar modules having substantially the same size, aspect ratio and surface coloring. The plurality of solar modules are mounted on the deck of a roof to form a bank of solar modules having at least one irregular edge. The solar power system further includes one or more non-power generating edge treatments having substantially the same size, aspect ratio and surface coloring as the solar modules and that are adapted for installation along the irregular edge. Each edge treatment is adapted for a cutting away of at least one corner thereof to smooth the irregular edge of the bank of solar modules to a regular edge.

MOUNTING APPARATUS FOR PHOTOVOLTAIC MODULES
A system includes a plurality of photovoltaic modules, each having a mat with an edge and a spacer with an edge, the edge of the mat being attached to the edge of the spacer. The spacer includes a plurality of support members and a solar module mounted to the support members. Each of the support members includes a ledge. The solar module and the ledge form a space therebetween. The space is sized and shaped to receive an edge of a solar module of another of the photovoltaic modules. The spacer of one of the photovoltaic modules overlays the mat of another of the photovoltaic modules.
