Automatic volume control for combined game and chat audio

A system comprising audio processing circuitry is provided. The audio processing circuitry is operable to receive combined-game-and-chat audio signals generated from a mixing together of a chat audio signal and game audio signals. The audio processing circuitry is operable to process the combined-game-and-chat audio signals to detect strength of a chat component of the combined-game-and-chat audio signals and strength of a game component of the combined-game-and-chat audio signals. The audio processing circuitry is operable to automatically control a volume setting based on one or both of: the detected strength of the chat component, and the detected strength of the game component. The combined-game-and-chat audio signals may comprise a left channel signal and a right channel signal. The processing of the combined-game-and-chat audio signals may comprise measuring strength of a vocal-band signal component that is common to the left channel signal and the right channel signal.

A system and method for resetting an amplifier of an AVN system are provided. The system includes a microphone that is configured to sense whether a non-audible frequency is output from the amplifier through the speaker. In addition, a reset controller is configured to receive a signal from the microphone and determine whether to reset the amplifier.

Electronic device audio volume reduction in response to audio communication request

Presented is a method of facilitating use of an audio communication device, such as a telephone, in the presence of an electronic device capable of generating sound, such as a television or audio receiver. In the method, a message is received from the audio communication device, wherein the message indicates the audio communication device has received a request for an audio communication, such as a telephone call, from a second audio communication device. In response to receiving the message, an audio volume of the electronic device is reduced.

ENVIRONMENT SENSING INTELLIGENT APPARATUS

An audio playback device may drive an audio reproduction device at a volume level. An audio capture device may convert sound waves into audio input. An environment sensing device may detect, based on the audio input, environmental conditions surrounding a user of the audio playback device, the environmental conditions including a loudness estimation indicative of a level of background noise included in the audio input and an audio content classification indicative of presence of speech in the audio input. The environment sensing device may also determine, according to the environmental conditions, a playback action to alter the volume level being provided by the audio playback device, and provide, to the audio playback device, an adjustment to the volume level in accordance with the playback action.

Positional information indicative of positions of a plurality of terminals is acquired from the terminals through communication; one or more representative terminals are determined from among the terminals in accordance with a state of distribution of the positions; when the positional information satisfies a predetermined condition, a first command to cause the representative terminals to output a sound at a first sound volume being transmitted to the representative terminals, and a second command to cause general terminals to output a sound at a second sound volume different from the first sound volume being transmitted to the general terminals different from the representative terminals; and when the positional information does not satisfy the predetermined condition, a third command to cause the representative terminals and general terminals to output a sound at a third sound volume being transmitted to the representative terminals and general terminals.

Audio Playback Settings for Voice Interaction

Example techniques relate to voice interaction in an environment with a media playback system that is playing back audio content. In an example implementation, while playing back first audio in a given environment at a given loudness: a playback device (a) detects that an event is anticipated in the given environment, the event involving playback of second audio and (b) determines a loudness of background noise in the given environment, the background noise comprising ambient noise in the given environment. The playback device ducks the first audio in proportion to a difference between the given loudness of the first audio and the determined loudness of the background noise and plays back the ducked first audio concurrently with the second audio.

Predict and trigger a future response to a predicted background noise based on a sequence of sounds

A device performing operations including identifying occurrence of a trigger sound in the at least one microphone signal. Operations also include predicting probability of occurrence of a subsequent sound having a defined disturbance characteristic in the at least one microphone signal following the occurrence of the trigger sound. Operations further include triggering a remedial action to be performed to mute the at least one microphone signal or to suppress the subsequent sound in the at least one microphone signal when the probability of occurrence of the subsequent sound having the defined disturbance characteristic satisfies a remedial action rule.

Squelch detector

A squelch detector is disclosed by the present application. By configuring the first to third bias current sources and a mirror ratio of the current mirror circuit, when an amplitude difference between first and second input signals is smaller or greater than a squelch threshold, flip of an output node in the squelch detector depends only on the squelch threshold and is independent of variations of process, voltage and temperature (PVT) parameters. Thus, the squelch detector can always provide reliable amplitude detection of input signals despite of possible variations of the PVT parameters.
