Multi-path analog front end with adaptive path

In accordance with embodiments of the present disclosure, a processing system may include a plurality of processing paths and a controller. The plurality of processing paths may include a static processing path configured to generate a first digital signal based on an analog input signal and a dynamic processing path configured to generate a second digital signal based on the analog input signal, wherein a parameter of the dynamic processing path is determined based on a characteristic of the analog input signal. The controller may be configured to select the first digital signal as a digital output signal of the processing system when a change is occurring to the characteristic and select the second digital signal as the digital output signal in the absence of change occurring to the characteristic.

TRANSIENT OUTPUT SUPPRESSION IN AN AMPLIFIER

Systems and methods for suppressing transient outputs from an amplifier system are provided. An amplifier having a plurality of bias levels may be controlled to initiate a change in the level of a bias signal provided to the amplifier. The level of the bias signal is ramped from an initial bias level to a final bias level over numerous steps. The steps include at least one step in which the level of the bias signal is between the initial bias level and the final bias level. An amplifier system having multiple stages may be controlled to enable each stage and selectively couple each stage in a sequence that couples an output stage to an output terminal at the completion of the sequence.

Digital to analog converters (DAC) are used to convert digital signals to analog values. The digital system providing data to the analog converter may be highly tasked. A DAC is provided with some in built logic to assist in reducing the load on the devices driving the DAC. The DAC may include a library of functions that it can apply to the input words to modify transitions in the analog output words. The DAC may further include a health checking system for monitoring the digital words being supplied to the DAC and raising a concern, and taking action if required, if the sequence of words is unlikely to be correct or beyond the target operating range.
