Lift-recliner chair

A power lift-recliner chair has a base, seat and backrest sections and actuator for moving the seat and backrest sections. The seat is pivotally mounted with respect to the base section and the backrest section is pivotally mounted with respect to the seat section. A guide is associated with one of the base and the seat sections and at least one follower is associated with the other of the base and the seat sections. The guide is arcuate for relative pivoting with respect to the base about a pivot axis located at the center of curvature of the guide. The base section includes a pair of side panels on lateral sides of the chair. The seat includes a pair of side members, adjacent the side panels, which carry the guide or follower associated with the seat section.

A folding chair is disclosed that includes a backrest portion, a seat portion, two armrests, and two pairs of a front leg and a back leg each, the front leg and the back leg of each pair being pivotably connected at top ends by a hinge, a bottom end of the backrest portion being pivotably connected to a back end of the seat portion by at least one hinge, the back legs of both pairs each comprising a rail running to a lower portion of the back legs, wherein the backrest portion and the seat portion are on both sides slidably connected to the rails at the position of the at least one hinge, a back end of the armrests being pivotably connected to the backrest portion, and an underside of the armrests being attached to the respective top end of the pairs of legs, and the seat portion being pivotably connected to the front legs on each side.

A lift mechanism for a reclining chair is provided. The lift mechanism can include a lock that prevents the seat from shifting from a reclining position into a seat-lift position without first shifting into an upright, closed position. The lock is shiftable between a locked position, where the chair is prevented from shifting into a seat-lift position and an unlocked position where the chair is permitted to shift into a seat-lift position. The lift mechanism can include an activator tube that can shift the lock between the unlocked and locked positions.

The lift mechanism can include a lock that prevents the seat from shifting from a reclining position into a seat-lift position without first shifting into an upright, closed position. Movement of the seat base between a depressed position and an extended position can assist an individual when sitting or standing from the chair.

A lift chair comprising: a lift that transitions the lift chair between a resting position and a standing position; a user interface that receives one or more user inputs indicating a request to transition the lift chair between the resting position and the standing position; a controller circuit communicatively coupled to the lift and to the user interface, the controller circuit configured to cause the lift to transition the lift chair from the resting position to the standing position, in response to a single user input, at a first speed over a first time period followed by a second speed over a second time period, the first speed being slower than the second speed.
