Chair back mechanism and control assembly

A chair assembly includes a seat support structure, a back support structure, a back tensioning assembly adjustable between low and high tension positions, an actuator assembly adapted to adjust the back tensioning assembly between the low and high tension positions, a control input assembly actuable by rotating the portion of the control input assembly, and a control link assembly operably coupling the control input assembly with the actuator assembly to adjust the back tensioning assembly between the low and high tension positions upon rotation of the portion of the control assembly by a seated user, wherein a number of rotations of the portion of the control input assembly is not limited by the control link.

Apparatus and method for manufacturing a fabric suspension seat structure

A seat assembly includes a fabric component with a seat surface and with an interior segment directly attached to the fabric component. The interior segment extends from an exterior segment that has a greater flexural resistance than the interior segment.

A seating unit component assembly comprises a support component that includes a first surface adapted to abut a seated user, a second surface opposite the first surface, a first end surface, a second end surface opposite the first end surface, and a pair of side surfaces extending between the first and second end surfaces, and a cover having a plurality of sides that cooperate to form an interior space that receives the support component therein, wherein the cover includes a first portion comprising a non-fabric substantially flexible thermoplastic material covering at least a portion of at least one of the side surfaces of the support component, a second portion comprising a fabric covering at least a portion of the first surface and at least a portion of the first end surface of the support component, and a third portion comprising a substantially rigid overlay covering at least a portion of the second end surface and at least a portion of the second surface.

Chair

This disclosure describes a chair having a base frame, a seat support, and a backrest support. The seat support is connected to the backrest support. The backrest support is rotatably connected to a rear part of the base frame such that a pivot axis is defined about which the backrest support is pivotable. The seat support is connected to a front part of the base frame by at least one four-joint coupling mechanism, whereby the seat support is moved on a defined movement path in the chair longitudinal direction during a pivoting movement of the backrest support.

MECHANISM FOR CHANGING THE TILT OF THE BACKREST HAVING REGARD TO THE SEAT OF A CHAIR
20170135487 · 2017-05-18 ·

A mechanism for adjusting the seat of a chair as a result of changing the tilt of the backrest with respect to the seat is provided. The mechanism has a backrest frame and a base frame, as well as a covering element stably combined with the base frame and forming part of the seat. The backrest frame is rotatably constrained to the base frame around a respective rotation axis and tilting with respect to the seat between a position (P1) of minimum tilt and a position (P2) of maximum tilt. Advantageously, the covering element is partially elastically deformable, with the mechanism having deforming means operated by the backrest frame in order to reversibly deform, in the vertical direction, when the covering element as a function of the tilt angle with backrest frame has reached with respect to the position (P1) of minimum tilt.

Chair, a support, and components

A chair has a seat support, a seat portion, a back portion, and a supporting frame. The supporting frame is formed by a castored base, a height adjustment mechanism, and a main transom. The seat portion is selectively moveable relative to the supporting frame, with the seat portion having a locked configuration and a released configuration. The back portion has a back frame and a compliant cover. The back frame has hood features for receiving a portion of the compliant cover. The back portion is reclinable relative to the supporting frame between an upright position and a reclined position. A recline mechanism has deformable members operatively connecting the seat portion and the supporting frame. A recline resistance mechanism is selectively engageable to resist movement of the back portion toward the reclined position.

Furniture is described having an extendable footrest. The footrest has a main panel and a flipper panel. In an extended position of the footrest, the top surfaces of the panels are approximately horizontal and co-planar, the main panel being proximate to a seat portion of the furniture. In a retracted position of the footrest, the top surface of the main panel is approximately vertical and the top surface of the flipper panel is approximately horizontal and facing in a downward direction. The footrest projects substantially 20 or more from the front of the seat portion in the extended position, and substantially 7 or less is provided between the floor and the apparent bottom edge of the footrest when retracted.

Among other things, a seat includes a base; a back-supporting surface coupled to the base; and a seating surface movable relative to the base in a direction of motion toward and away from the back-supporting surface. The back-supporting surface has a lower portion nearer the seating surface that is movable, relative to an upper portion of the back-supporting surface that is farther from the seating surface, in the direction of motion as the seating surface moves in the direction of motion.

BODY SUPPORT ASSEMBLY AND METHODS FOR THE USE AND ASSEMBLY THEREOF

A body support assembly includes a seat assembly and backrest assembly supported by a tilt control assembly. Methods of using and assembling the body support assembly are provided.
