20190393889 · 2019-12-26 ·

A computer system includes a hardware controller and an internal millicode storage area. The controller includes an accelerator that decompresses a data stream requested by an application. The internal millicode storage area can store a compression dictionary library including a plurality of different pre-defined compression dictionaries. A host system includes a dictionary manager that determines a compression dictionary from the plurality of different pre-defined compression dictionaries included in the dictionary library to decompress the data stream. The accelerator can access the internal millicode storage area to obtain the determined compression dictionary, and to decompress the data stream according to the determined compression dictionary.

SYSTEM AND METHOD FOR DATA STORAGE, TRANSFER, SYNCHRONIZATION, AND SECURITY USING AUTOMATED MODEL MONITORING AND TRAINING

A system and method for lossy precompression for data compaction using automated model monitoring and training, wherein statistical analyses of test datasets are used to determine if the probability distribution of two datasets are within a pre-determined range, and responsive to that determination new encoding and decoding algorithms may be retrained in order to produce new data sourceblocks, and pre-compression of data prior to processing and statistical analysis allows for the compaction of already compressed data into highly dense formats. The new data sourceblocks may then be processed and assigned new codewords which are compiled into an updated codebook which may be distributed back to encoding and decoding systems and devices.

Nested entropy encoding

Methods and systems for improving coding decoding efficiency of video by providing a syntax modeler, a buffer, and a decoder. The syntax modeler may associate a first sequence of symbols with syntax elements. The buffer may store tables, each represented by a symbol in the first sequence, and each used to associate a respective symbol in a second sequence of symbols with encoded data. The decoder decodes the data into a bitstream using the second sequence retrieved from a table.

SYSTEM AND METHOD FOR CODEBOOK-BASED DATA ENCODING

A system and method for codebook-based data encoding. Portions of the data are encoded by different encoding libraries, depending on which library provides the greatest compaction for a given portion of the data. This methodology not only provides substantial improvements in data compaction over use of a single data compaction algorithm with the highest average compaction, but provides substantial additional security in that multiple decoding libraries must be used to decode the data. In some embodiments, each portion of data may further be encoded using different sourceblock sizes, providing further security enhancements as decoding requires multiple decoding libraries and knowledge of the sourceblock size used for each portion of the data. In some embodiments, encoding libraries may be randomly or pseudo-randomly rotated to provide additional security.

DATA PROCESSING METHOD AND APPARATUS

A method of compression is disclosed in which an input sequence of bits is divided into a plurality of portions. Each portion is sub-divided into a plurality of sub-divisions. Frequency analysis is performed to determine the number of occurrences of each sub-division permutation and new values are assigned, based on the frequency analysis, to each of the sub-division permutations. For each portion a label representing the permutation of bits in that portion is assigned. The label comprises a representation of a combined value resulting from combining the new values associated with the sub-division permutations of that portion. A processed sequence of bits is generated by replacing, within the input sequence of bits, bit portions with the respective label representing the permutation of bits in that portion.

Methods, apparatuses, and storage media associated with compaction of data from one or more computing devices are disclosed. In various embodiments, one or more Internet of Things (IoT) devices may transmit information to a computing system. The computing system may group together raw data received from these one or more IoT devices based on a shared attribute. The computing system may select a compaction scheme to represent the knowledge conveyed by a group of the raw data. The computing system may apply this compaction scheme to the group of raw data to generate data that is representative of the group of raw data. Other embodiments may be disclosed or claimed.

Compression dictionary snapshot system and method

A system configured to generate a set of compression dictionary snapshots. The system can determine a subset of a set of compression dictionary definitions, the subset having a first subset comprising one or more definitions that have changed since a time of a previous snapshot and a second subset having one or more definitions associated with a predetermined portion of the dictionary. The system can further generate and store snapshots based at least in part on the determined subset of one or more definitions and determine a plurality of active snapshots from the set of snapshots such that the set of one or more definitions is included in the plurality of active snapshots.
