Chair having a deflection that is mutually synchronous between backrest and a seat
10433642 · 2019-10-08 · ·

A chair is disclosed having a mechanism with a spring unit that permits mutually synchronous deflection between a backrest and a seat over a range between a respective zero position of back and seat inclination and a respective maximum back or seat inclination. Stationary first and second axes of rotation extend through a base support of a carrier unit. A back carrier is articulated on the first axis of rotation, and a third axis of rotation extends through the back carrier. A front of a base plate lies movably on the base support and a rear of the base plate is articulated on the third axis of rotation. The base support has a U-shape with two arms thereof having portions extending upward to engage associated openings in the base plate. When the mechanism is deflected, a relative displacement between the arms and the openings occurs.

An adjustable furniture such as a recliner chair or adjustable bed comprising a base, an intermediate support and a back support. Both the intermediate support and the back support are guided for movement relative to the base by a second guide means while the base moves along a first guide means. The first guide means include at least one guide associated with one of the base and intermediate support and at least one follower associated with the other of the base and intermediate support. The second guide means includes at least one guide associated with one of the base support and the back support and at least one follower associated with the other of the base support and the back support.

Flexible support device for chair back tilting

The flexible support device is used for chair back tilting, which is installed under a cushion. The device includes a base, two driving members connected to the chair back, a pulling rod crossing the base and a spring disposed in the base. The base is connected to ends of the driving members. Two ends of the pulling rod are separately connected to two free ends of the two driving members. The pulling rod has a frame encompassing the spring. The frame has an action end blocking the spring. When the chair back is pressed to tilt rearward, the driving members are rotated to draw the pulling rod to move toward the chair back, and the action end of the frame is driven to compress the spring so as to make the chair back flexibly supported.

The invention provides an article of adjustable furniture (10), preferably an adjustable chair or bed, comprising a floor standing base section (16), adjustable seat (18), backrest (20) and headrest (130) sections and actuator means (100) for moving the backrest and headrest sections. The seat section is movably mounted with respect to the base section. The backrest is movably mounted with respect to the seat section and the headrest is movably mounted with respect to the backrest section. The actuator means includes a single actuator (102) for co-ordinated movement of the adjustable backrest and headrest sections for selectively altering the configuration of the article of furniture. The actuator has a first range of movement for moving the headrest with respect to the backrest, and a second range of movement for moving the backrest with respect to the seat section to provide a recliner function. The invention also provides an article of adjustable furniture comprising a backrest (20) and an adjustable headrest (130) pivotally mounted with respect to the backrest, actuator means (100) for moving the headrest between raised and lowered positions, and guide means arranged between the headrest and the backrest for rotating the headrest with respect to the backrest as it moves between said raised and lowered positions. The guide means includes first (138) and second (140) guides, each associated with one of the backrest and the headrest and having at least one follower (142, 144) associated with the other of the backrest and headrest. The first and second guides are inclined with respect to each other such that a turning moment is generated on the headrest when the headrest is raised or lowered.

CHAIR BACK TILT MECHANISM

A chair can include a chair back, or backrest, that is coupled to a base of a chair above a seat of the chair. A tilt mechanism can attach the backrest to the base at spaced apart locations. In some embodiments, the tilt mechanism can be configured so that the backrest rotates about multiple pivots as it reclines from an upright position to a reclined position to drive forward motion of the seat during recline of the backrest.

Furniture member with adjustable seat height

A furniture member may include a base assembly and a seat assembly. The base assembly may include a base structure, a post, a support frame, and a height-adjustment mechanism. The post extends vertically upward from the base structure. The support frame may include a cross member and a sleeve. The sleeve may slidably and rotatably receive the post for vertical movement of the support frame relative to the base structure along a longitudinal axis of the post and for rotational movement relative to the base structure about the longitudinal axis. The height-adjustment mechanism may include a height-adjustment actuator configured to move the support frame vertically along the longitudinal axis. The cross member of the support frame may include a pair of rocker springs mounted thereon. The seat assembly may be mounted on the rocker springs and may include a seat bottom, a seatback, and armrest members.

FURNITURE MEMBER WITH COMPLIANT LEGREST MECHANISM

A legrest mechanism including a seat base rail, a mechanism rail, a drive assembly, a pivot plate link, a pivot plate, a main drive link, and a parallelogram legrest link assembly. The drive assembly moves the mechanism rail relative to the seat base rail, which drives movement of the parallelogram legrest link assembly between a retracted position and an extended position. The parallelogram legrest link assembly includes first and second legrest links, footrest and legrest drive arms, and a legrest bracket. The main drive link has a pin that is slidingly received in a slot in one of the first legrest link, second legrest link, or main drive link such that movement of the parallelogram legrest link assembly is decoupled from movement of the main drive link when the legrest and/or parallelogram legrest link assembly encounters an obstruction while moving from the extended position to the retracted position.
