Respective sets of magnetic structures may be provided in the first and second devices to align the two devices and to form a reliable wireless communication link between the two devices. The first and second devices may include respective antenna arrays that include pairs of antenna elements that are selectively used to form a reliable wireless communication link.

The system makes use of individual guest devices which are carried by guests and used to automatically identify and authenticate the guests throughout the facility. The services include contact tracing, automatic unlocking of doors, including hotel or state room doors, based on the guests' immediate proximity to their assigned room's door. The services also include automated payment services provided at checkout or vending terminals, and automated log-on to interactive displays and portals, among others, based on secure wireless authentication of the guest devices.

Systems and methods for potential drowning incident detection

A potential drowning incident detection system and its constituent components are disclosed. The system includes a device worn on a head of a swimmer, which includes one or more signal generating units. The signal generating units may be positioned on the device adjacent each temple of the swimmer when worn. The system further includes at least one hub configured to receive wireless signals from the signal generating units, and may further be in communication with a server. The hub and/or server may generate an alert or warning when the signals of the signal generating units are not received by the at least one sensor hub. The alert or warning may further be triggered to a wearable device provided to a responder, such as a life guard. Data collected from the swimmer-worn devices may be stored for later analysis.

A covert sports communication system has a transmitter configured to wirelessly transmit coded audio track selection signals. The system includes a receiver that may be worn within headgear. The receiver includes stored audio tracks and is configured to receive coded audio track selection signals from the transmitter, decode the audio track selection signals, and play at least one stored audio track in accordance with the decoded audio track selection signals. The audio tracks may include audio instructions to a participant of a sporting event.

The present disclosure includes devices, and systems for monitoring and detection systems. Some of the methods may include monitoring one or more birds that each has a receiver-located tag and/or a global positioning satellite (GPS) tag, and for each of the bird(s) having a receiver-located tag: receiving, at at least one of a plurality of detection stations, a signal from the receiver-located tag, each of the detection stations comprising two or more directional antennas, determining bird heading information and bird distance information, estimating a position and trajectory of the bird; and calculating an amount of time for the bird to reach a boundary around a wind turbine (TTB). In some methods, for each of the bird(s) having a GPS tag: receiving GPS data from the GPS tag when the bird crosses a geo-fence that surrounds the wind turbine; estimating a position and trajectory of the bird.

The overall physical length of the loop antenna is less than 75% of the vacuum wavelength of a lower limit frequency of the operating frequency range of the transmitter, while the electrical length of the antenna is from 0.9 to 1.1 times the guided wavelength of the lower limit frequency of the operating frequency range of the transmitter. The loop antenna includes a plurality of conductors which are connected in series by inductors so as to increase the electrical length of the loop antenna.

Embodiments of the present invention provide a wearable device (200) suitable for wearing on a person's wrist and comprising a metallic housing (203) and a flexible band (202) for attachment of the device to a user's wrist. The metallic housing includes a printed circuit board (PCB) (702) on which is mounted electronic components (710) including a transmitter for transmitting radio signals at a frequency between 400 and 1000 MHz. A coin-cell battery (502) powers the device. The battery is disposed in an inner core (406,406′) of the flexible band. An antenna is connected to the PCB for radiating said signals. In one embodiment the antenna comprises a coil (504,506) of wire disposed in said section of the band. The wire is of substantially a quarter wavelength in length based on the transmission frequency of the radio signals, and comprises the electrical connections between the battery and PCB. In a second embodiment, the transmitter comprises a coaxial cable connector and a coaxial cable having a terminal for connection to said coaxial cable connector. The coaxial cable extends out of said housing into said section to an antenna disposed in said section.
