Interface device for wirelessly controlling an audio device
An interface device is configured to be attached to an audio device and at least one switch within a vehicle. The audio device recognizes a predetermined voltage signal as being a desired audio characteristic and then generates an audio signal having the desired audio characteristic. The interface device includes a central processing unit (CPU) and a wireless receiver. The wireless receiver may receive a wireless data signal from a wireless device corresponding to a desired change to the audio characteristic. The wireless data signal is converted to a first voltage signal. The first voltage signal is transmitted to the CPU. The CPU transforms the first voltage signal to an audio input signal, corresponding to the predetermined voltage signal recognizable by the audio device and corresponding to the desired change to the audio characteristic. The CPU may also receive a second voltage signal, which is converted to the audio input signal.
System and method for retrieving information while commanding operation of an appliance
When a command key of a controlling platform is activated, the platform performs an operation to initiate a playing of media content and also initiates the retrieval of information from an information source.
Interactive sound reproducing
An audio system attachable to a computer includes a sound reproduction device for producing audible sound from audio signals. The sound reproduction device includes a radio tuner and a powered speaker. The audio system further includes a connector for connecting the sound reproduction device with a computer. The computer provides audio signals from a plurality of sources, the sources including a computer CD player, digitally encoded computer files stored on the computer, and a computer network connected to the computer. The sound reproduction device further includes control buttons for controlling at least one of the computer CD player, the digitally encoded computer files and the computer network.
CONTROLLING DEVICE HAVING MULTIPLE USER INTERFACES
A controlling device having a plurality of user selectable operating modes, a user interface providing a plurality of function keys each operable to cause a transmission of at least one command to at least one of a plurality of appliances for commanding at least one operating function of the at least one of the plurality of appliances, and a light source for illuminating the user interface in multiple distinct colors. The light source is caused to illuminate the user interface in at least one of the multiple distinct colors as a function of a one of the plurality of operating modes in which the controlling device is currently placed.
CALCULATING A SOCIAL ZONE DISTANCE
For calculating a social zone distance, a processor determines distances to one or more persons using the sensor array. In addition, the processor calculates the social zone distance based on the distances.
USER INTERFACE FOR A REMOTE CONTROL APPLICATION
A hand-held electronic device having a remote control application user interface that functions to displays operational mode information to a user. The graphical user interface may be used, for example, to setup the remote control application to control appliances for one or more users in one or more rooms, to perform activities, and to access favorites. The remote control application is also adapted to be upgradeable. Furthermore, the remote control application provides for the sharing of operational mode information.
System and method for adaptive programming of a remote control
A method and system for adaptively configuring a remote control includes analyzing a log of events, maintained by the remote control, which indicate how the remote control and the devices it controls are used by a user. Once the analysis is performed, the system and method can suggest alternative configurations of the remote control to the user. The range and type of alternative configurations is not particularly limited and can include changing which devices are employed for various user activities and/or how those activities are performed, the placement and hierarchy of commands in a menu tree and/or troubleshooting and set up configurations. The analysis can be performed either partially or totally within the remote control, or at, or in conjunction with, a service to which the remote control connects through a network.
Remote control unit for activating and deactivating means for payment and for displaying payment status
The invention relates to a remote control unit for intelligent digital audiovisual reproduction systems, comprising storage means, payment means, a sound control circuit, display means and a metal chassis wherein said remote control unit comprises a distant radio frequency transmitter that is associated with a radio frequency receiver connected to the sound control circuit of the audiovisual reproduction system.
Controlling device with selectively illuminated user interfaces
A controlling device using a source of energy, such as light energy, to provide the controlling device with a user interface having multiple, different visual appearances.
