METHOD AND APPARATUS FOR DETECTING AND RESPONDING TO A DISRUPTION IN COMMUNICATION SERVICES
20210314793 · 2021-10-07 ·

A high-altitude platform (HAP) node provides communication service during an emergency. The HAP node uses a first network to provide communication services for handling calls initiated by at least one user equipment (UE). The HAP node detects that an emergency disruption has occurred that prevents the use of the first network. In response to detecting the occurrence of the emergency disruption, a mobile terminal (MT) in the HAP node searches for a second network able to accept emergency calls. The HAP node determines whether the second network will handle all calls initiated by the at least one UE or only emergency calls generated by the at least one UE. The HAP node handles the calls based on the determining and through the use of the second network.

SYSTEMS AND METHODS FOR OBTAINING AND DISTRIBUTING DYNAMIC FREQUENCY SELECTION DATA FOR WIRELESS NETWORKS ON AIRPLANES
20210250784 · 2021-08-12 · ·

Systems and methods for obtaining data for Dynamic Frequency Selection (DFS) events caused by interfering signals, such as radar signals, in mobile WiFi wireless communication networks on airplanes. The systems and methods utilize wireless access points (WAPs) on in-flight entertainment systems on airplanes to detect DFS events, and obtain DFS event data. The DFS event data is transmitted to a ground system which is configured to utilize the DFS event data to generate DFS messages which allow a WAP on another airplane to avoid the interfering signals that caused the DFS event. The ground system transmits the DFS messages to other airplanes which use the information in the DFS message to configure a WAP to avoid DFS events. The ground system may also be configured to analyze and generate a 3D DFS map which can be used to generate radio channel plans to avoid DFS events.

COMMUNICATION TERMINAL AND CONTROL METHOD

Realized is a communication terminal which, in a case where a status of communication with a low-earth-orbit satellite becomes poor, notifies a user that the status of the communication with the low-earth-orbit satellite is poor. A communication terminal includes: a determining section which determines whether or not an index satisfies a given condition, the index being calculated based on at least one of communication status information indicative of a status of communication between the communication terminal and a satellite, a status of decoding of a signal received from the satellite, and a status of readiness of voice communication based on the signal received from the satellite; and a notification control section which, in a case where the determining section determines that the index satisfies the given condition, controls a notification to be sent to a user of the communication terminal, the notification indicating that the index satisfies the given condition.

SYSTEMS AND METHODS FOR DETECTING SATELLITE-BASED COMMUNICATION INTERFERENCE
20210152262 · 2021-05-20 ·

Systems and methods for detecting and reducing signal interference affecting wireless communication with a mobile vehicle includes generating an interference signature based on a correlation multiple signal-quality characteristics of a desired target-signal that is received at an antenna assembly attached to the mobile vehicle, and adjusting the orientation of the antenna assembly based on a change or degradation in the interference signature to thereby improve wireless communication with the vehicle.

BEAM CONFIGURATION AND PARAMETER MANAGEMENT FOR NON-TERRESTRIAL NETWORKS
20210119697 · 2021-04-22 ·

This disclosure provides systems, methods and apparatus, including computer programs encoded on computer storage media, for managing beam configurations and parameters for non-terrestrial networks. In some implementations, a UE may detect a synchronization signal block (SSB) transmitted by a satellite via a first beam. Aspects of the present disclosure recognize that each beam may be identified by a unique SSB index based at least in part on a time or frequency on which the SSB is received. Thus, the SSB may be identified based on a frequency-domain SSB index or a time-domain SSB index. The UE may further determine one or more wireless communication parameters associated with the first beam. The UE may generate a mapping between the SSB and the wireless communication parameters associated with the first beam, and thereafter communicate with the satellite using the mapping.
