A system and method for regenerative satellite communications between a gateway of a terrestrial communication network and a user terminal via a communications satellite are described. The system includes a distributed regenerative modulator having a first portion of modulator components arranged at the gateway, and a second portion of modulator components arranged at the communications satellite. The first portion of the modulator components applies a first part of modulation functions to the information data carried by an uplink signal at the gateway, while the second portion of the modulator components applies a second part of modulation functions to the information data at the satellite to generate a down-link signal for transmitting it to the user terminal. The first portion of the components performs specific signal processing operations, which are only suitable for processing a waveform of a specific type. The second portion of the components performs only general signal processing operations which do not depend on the waveform used for modulation.

Systems, methods, and computer-readable media for processing a digital bit stream representative of a communication signal are provided. The method can include dividing, at one or more processors, the digital bit stream into a plurality of data packets, each having an overlap of data from an adjacent packet. The method can include performing a timing recovery operation and a carrier recovery operation on portions of the plurality of data packets in multiple processing blocks in the processor, in parallel. The method can include combining the first plurality and the second plurality based on timing and phase stitching.

A method and system for providing GTP acceleration for secure cellular backhaul over satellite (CBoS). A satellite terminal receives request from a first entity to establish a security association with a second entity, and establishes a first secure tunnel to a gateway. A second secure tunnel is then established between the gateway and the second entity based on a certificate belonging to the first entity. A third secure tunnel is established between the satellite terminal and the first entity based on a certificate belonging to the second entity. The contents of encrypted traffic between the first entity and the second entity are examined so that GTP acceleration may be applied to eligible traffic transmitted over the first secure tunnel.

Further, the observation satellite comprises at least one receiving antenna, the at least one receiving antenna having a receiving pattern directed towards the earth, and suitable for receiving electromagnetic energy in the radio frequency range as the observation satellite is orbiting relative to the surface of the earth. The observation satellite also comprises a transmitter configured for at least one of: (i) retransmitting, to a relay spacecraft, the received electromagnetic energy, (ii) transmitting, to the relay spacecraft, information representing the received electromagnetic energy, and (iii) transmitting, to the relay spacecraft, information derived from the received electromagnetic energy. Methods, systems, and apparatus, including computer programs encoded on a computer storage medium, for providing an electronic resource to multiple users that are associated with the electronic resource. In some implementations, a method includes identifying multiple users, as a proper subset of users of a satellite communication network, that are each associated with an electronic resource. Satellite terminals of the satellite communication network corresponding to the identified users are identified. Satellite transmission data is generated that includes the electronic resource and designates the identified satellite terminals. A satellite gateway transmits the satellite transmission data over the satellite communication network in a satellite broadcast to the identified satellite terminals, such that the identified satellite terminals can concurrently receive data associated with the electronic resource without sending a request for data associated with the electronic resource.
