Radio Access Network using Radio Over Fibre
A radio communication system comprising an optical carrier generator for generating at least a pair of frequency spaced optical carrier signals, a transceiver configured to modulate a first portion of the pair of spaced optical carrier signals with downlink (DL) information to generate a modulated first optical signal, combine an unmodulated second optical signal formed of a remaining unmodulated second portion of the pair of spaced optical carrier signals with the modulated first optical signal to form a combined optical signal for transmission over an optical link, receive an optical uplink (UL) signal from said optical link, said optical UL signal comprising UL information modulated on said unmodulated second portion of the spaced optical carrier signals and down convert said received optical UL signal using a photodetector to output an electrical signal at a baseband frequency.
Cable arrangement with wavelength division multiplexer
A passive optical network includes a central office providing subscriber signals; a drop terminal; and a wave division multiplexer. A fiber distribution hub may split or separate out dedicated optical signals from subscriber optical signals between the central office and the drop terminal. The wave division multiplexer separates dedicated optical signals pertaining to a specific dedicated subscriber from other optical signals on the line received at the wave division multiplexer. The wave division multiplexer may be part of a cable or part of an intermediate service terminal.
Methods and Devices for Determination of Beamforming Information
There is presented mechanisms for providing information for determining beamforming weights or decoding user data for terminal devices. A method is performed by an RE of an access node. The RE has an interface to an REC of the access node. The method comprises obtaining information from the terminal devices to be used by the REC for determining the beamforming weights or decoding the user data. The method comprises selecting, according to a selection criterion, a part of the information to be provided to the REC in order for the REC to determine the beamforming weights or decode the user data based on the selected part of the information. The method comprises providing the selected part of the information to the REC over the interface.
OPTICAL COMMUNICATION SYSTEM AND METHOD, OPTICAL MODULE, AND APPARATUS USED IN OPTICAL MODULE
An optical communication system includes N optical modules at the local end. Each optical module includes a first optical interface and a second optical interface. A first optical interface of a first optical module in each of the N optical modules at the local end is connected to a peer end through a common optical fiber. A second optical interface of an i.sup.th optical module in the N optical modules at the local end is connected to a first optical interface of an (i+1)th optical module in the N optical modules at the local end, and i=1, 2, . . . , N1.
FIBER TO THE ANTENNA
A cell site includes a tower, a multi-service terminal mounted to the tower and a base transceiver station in communication with the multi-service terminal. The multi-service terminal includes a housing and a plurality of adapters mounted to the housing. Each of the adapters includes an outer port accessible from outside the housing and an inner port accessible from inside the housing.
Systems and methods for communication link redundancy for distributed antenna systems
In one embodiment, a distributed antenna system comprises: at least one master unit; at least one remote antenna unit communicatively coupled via a switch to the master unit by a primary cable and a secondary cable both coupled to the switch, the remote antenna unit comprising a compensating link check module that outputs a control signal to the switch, wherein the switch selects between the primary and secondary cable in response to the control signal; wherein the compensating link check module controls the switch to momentarily select the secondary cable to perform a link check during which the remote unit measures a quality metric of a downlink signal received via the secondary cable; and upon initiation of the link check, the compensating link check module adjusts an attenuation of the downlink signal received on the secondary cable by loading calibration settings for the secondary cable into a compensation attenuator.
