Estimating a narrowband reference signal received power parameter

Various aspects of the present disclosure generally relate to wireless communication. In some aspects, a user equipment (UE) may receive a plurality of master information blocks (MIBs) on a narrowband physical broadcast channel (NPBCH). The UE may determine an NPBCH signal power based at least in part on the plurality of MIBs. The UE may estimate a narrowband reference signal received power (NRSRP) parameter based at least in part on the NPBCH signal power. In some aspects, a base station may determine whether to enable or disable NPBCH-based estimates of an NRSRP parameter for a UE. The base station may transmit, to the UE, an indication of whether NPBCH-based estimates of the NRSRP parameter are enabled or disabled for the UE based at least in part on the determination. Numerous other aspects are provided.

ELECTRONIC DEVICE IN WIRELESS COMMUNICATION SYSTEM, AND WIRELESS COMMUNICATION METHOD

The present invention relates to an electronic device in a wireless communication system, and a wireless communication method. The electronic device in a wireless communication system of the present invention comprises: a processing circuit configured to generate resource indication information for indicating resources carrying discovery information; and a transceiver circuit configured to send the resource indication information. The electronic device and the wireless communication method of the present invention can implement a discovery process of a bandwidth-limited remote device, shorten discovery time, and save energy of the remote device and a relay device.

Preamble Transmission Counter for a Beam Failure Recover of a Wireless Device

A wireless device starts a beam failure recovery (BFR) timer in response to initiating a contention-free random access procedure for a BFR. Based on expiry of the BFR timer, a first preamble employing a contention-based random access for the BFR is transmitted. In response to not receiving a response for the first preamble, a preamble transmission counter is incremented from a value of the preamble transmission counter of the contention-free random access procedure before the expiry of the BFR timer. A second preamble is transmitted in response to a value of the preamble transmission counter being equal to or less than a number.

Minimizing block error rate (BLER) associated with a beam switch

Aspects of the disclosure relate to minimizing the block error rate (BLER) experienced by a user equipment (UE) upon a downlink beam switch at the base station. The UE may measure the reference signal received power (RSRP) of each of a plurality of downlink beams during a beam sweep and modify an automatic gain control (AGC) state of the UE based on the difference in RSRP between a current downlink beam and an expected downlink beam expected to be selected by the base station for subsequent unicast downlink transmissions to the UE. In some examples, the expected downlink beam may have a highest RSRP among all of the measured RSRPs of the different downlink beams Other aspects, features, and embodiments are also claimed and described.
