Transmission medium and methods for use therewith
Aspects of the subject disclosure may include, for example, a cable can include a core, a plurality of strips of cladding disposed on the core, and a coupler that facilitates inducing electromagnetic waves that propagate along the core, where a first dielectric constant of the core exceeds a second dielectric constant of each strip of cladding of the plurality of strips of cladding, and where the electromagnetic waves propagate along the core without requiring an electrical return path. Other embodiments are disclosed.
Apparatus and methods for communicating with ultra-wideband electromagnetic waves
Aspects of the subject disclosure may include, a system that facilitates receiving a first group of electromagnetic waves, wherein the first group of electromagnetic waves propagate along a first span of a transmission medium without requiring an electrical return path and without traversing a first supporting device or a second supporting device. The first span of the transmission medium is supported by the first supporting device and the second supporting device, and the first group of electromagnetic waves convey a first communication signal. The first communication signal is extracted from the first group of electromagnetic waves, and the first communication signal is transmitted to a communication device. Other embodiments are disclosed.
Secured power and data communications for aircraft coupled to ground systems
Embodiments described herein provide systems and methods for securing electrical power and/or data communications between a ground system and an aircraft by monitoring characteristics of the electrical power and/or the data communications from the ground system. The ground system may be prevented from providing electrical power and/or data communications to the aircraft when the characteristics are different than expected.
INTERCONNECTION FOR CONNECTING A SWITCHED MODE INVERTER TO A LOAD
An interconnection for connecting a switched mode inverter to a load, the interconnection comprising: a plurality of insulated conductors; sleeving means sleeving the insulated conductors together; and at least one lossy toroidal inductor core concentric with and partially surrounding the sleeving means to hold the plurality of insulated conductors together; wherein the at least one lossy toroidal inductor core is arranged to act as a common mode inductor to minimise current flowing through the interconnection to a stray capacitance of the load. Preferably, high frequency eddy current effects are minimised in the interconnection by a suitable choice of diameters of conductive cores of the plurality of insulated conductors and the spacing between the centres of the conductive cores.
Power line signal coupler
A main power line (+ and lines) is coupled to a power supply, for example a car battery, grounded to a vehicle chassis. Positive and negative main power lines are coupled to a power line gateway module, and spliced to carry power for a segment, until receiving, by splices, RF power line communications. The main power lines, now carrying power and RF power line communications are then coupled to remote modules. RF power line communication carries signal from the power line gateway module to a impedance matching network or a transformer are used to match impedances.
Transmission medium having multiple cores and methods for use therewith
Aspects of the subject disclosure may include, for example, a transmission medium for propagating electromagnetic waves. The transmission medium can include a plurality of cores for selectively guiding an electromagnetic wave of a plurality of electromagnetic waves longitudinally along each core, and a shell surrounding at least a portion of each core for reducing exposure of the electromagnetic wave of each core. Other embodiments are disclosed.
Access point and methods for use in a radio distributed antenna system
In accordance with one or more embodiments, an access point includes a communication interface having: a coupler configured to receive, via a transmission medium, first guided electromagnetic waves from a communication node of a radio distributed antenna system, wherein the first guided electromagnetic waves propagate along the transmission medium without requiring an electrical return path; and also a receiver configured to receive first data from the first guided electromagnetic waves. A data switch is configured to select first selected portions of the first data for transmission to at least one communication device in proximity to the access point.
MULTI-USE OPTICAL DATA, POWERLINE DATA, AND GROUND POWER INTERFACE FOR AIRPLANE FACTORY AUTOMATION
A method for communicating data between a vehicle and a ground system comprises receiving, by a vehicle bus multiplexer on the vehicle, the data via a plurality of vehicle data buses from an onboard system. The method further comprises multiplexing, by the vehicle bus multiplexer, the data into at least one data path of a multi-use power interface. Also, the method comprises transmitting, by the multi-use power interface via at least one data path, the data from the vehicle bus multiplexer to a ground bus multiplexer associated with the ground system. In addition, the method comprises demultiplexing, by the ground bus multiplexer, the data from at least one data path of the multi-use power interface into a plurality of ground data buses associated with the ground system. Further, the method comprises transmitting, by the ground bus multiplexer, the data via the plurality of ground data buses to the ground system.
Signal multiplexer for sonar
A sonar includes a first part and a second part linked by an electric carrier cable configured to mechanically support the second part and allow the two parts of the sonar to exchange signals comprising: a unidirectional signal, called electrical power supply signal, unidirectional signals, called signals to be emitted, transmitted by the first part to the second part for them to be transmitted in the form of acoustic waves, and a bidirectional signal conveying communication data, the sonar wherein the first part comprises signal combination means configured for the signals to be transmitted simultaneously over the electric carrier cable, and in that the second part comprises separation means allowing the recovery of each of the signals transmitted over the electric carrier cable.
