Access point and methods for use in a radio distributed antenna system
In accordance with one or more embodiments, an access point includes a communication interface having: a coupler configured to receive, via a transmission medium, first guided electromagnetic waves from a communication node of a radio distributed antenna system, wherein the first guided electromagnetic waves propagate along the transmission medium without requiring an electrical return path; and also a receiver configured to receive first data from the first guided electromagnetic waves. A data switch is configured to select first selected portions of the first data for transmission to at least one communication device in proximity to the access point.
TRANSMISSION MEDIUM HAVING MULTIPLE CORES AND METHODS FOR USE THEREWITH
Aspects of the subject disclosure may include, for example, a transmission medium for propagating electromagnetic waves. The transmission medium can include a plurality of cores for selectively guiding an electromagnetic wave of a plurality of electromagnetic waves longitudinally along each core, and a shell surrounding at least a portion of each core for reducing exposure of the electromagnetic wave of each core. Other embodiments are disclosed.
Communication of multiple data streams over ground power lines
Methods and apparatus are disclosed for communicating between an aircraft and a terminal when the aircraft is on the ground. The connection between the aircraft and the terminal is made over a ground power line while the aircraft is being supplied with power. The ground power line comprises one or more wires, which are typically unshielded and cause radio interference. At the transmitting end, multiple copies of the same signal offset in phase relative to one another over the ground power line. Each data stream is coupled to a respective wire in the ground power line. At the receiving end, the multiple copies of the signal are extracted from the respective wires of the ground power line and combined to generate a combined signal with improved signal-to-noise ratio. Radio interference is suppressed by transmitting the data streams in a phase offset manner so that the unwanted emissions cancel.
Front-end and back-end processing circuits and POC circuit
The disclosure discloses a back-end circuit for processing an analog video signal and direct current power, a front-end circuit for processing an analog video signal and direct current power and a Power Over Coaxia (POC) circuit for an analog video signal. Each of the back-end processing circuit and the front-end processing circuit includes an analog video signal passing circuit configured to block the direct current power and let the analog video signal pass and a direct current power passing circuit configured to block the analog video signal and let the direct current power pass, so that the analog video signal may be isolated from the direct current power and the analog video signal may be superimposed to the direct current power without mutual influence and exclusion to realize a function of superimposing the direct current power on an analog high-definition video cable.
Power line signal coupler
A main power line (+ and lines) is coupled to a power supply, for example a car battery, grounded to a vehicle chassis. Positive and negative main power lines are coupled to a power line gateway module, and spliced to carry power for a segment, until receiving, by splices, RF power line communcations. The main power lines, now carrying power and RF power line communications are then coupled to remote modules. RF power line communication carries signal from the power line gateway module to a impedance matching network or a transformer are used to match impedances.
Apparatus and methods for communicating with ultra-wideband electromagnetic waves
Aspects of the subject disclosure may include, a system that facilitates receiving a modulated signal in a spectral segment for communicating with a communication device, wherein the modulated signal conforms to a signaling protocol, generating a plurality of ultra-wideband electromagnetic waves, wherein the plurality of ultra-wideband electromagnetic waves conveys the modulated signal without modifying the signaling protocol, and transmitting the plurality of ultra-wideband electromagnetic waves via a transmission medium, wherein the plurality of ultra-wideband electromagnetic waves is directed to another system. Other embodiments are disclosed.
SECURED POWER AND DATA COMMUNICATIONS FOR AIRCRAFT COUPLED TO GROUND SYSTEMS
Embodiments described herein provide systems and methods for securing electrical power and/or data communications between a ground system and an aircraft by monitoring characteristics of the electrical power and/or the data communications from the ground system. The ground system may be prevented from providing electrical power and/or data communications to the aircraft when the characteristics are different than expected.
METHOD AND APPARATUS THAT PROVIDES FAULT TOLERANCE IN A COMMUNICATION NETWORK
A system for detecting a fault in a first wire of a power grid that affects a transmission or reception of electromagnetic waves that transport data and that propagate along a surface of the first wire, selecting a backup communication medium from one or more backup communication mediums according to one or more selection criteria, and redirecting the data to the backup communication medium to circumvent the fault. Other embodiments are disclosed.
INDUCTION HEATING ACCESSORIES
Induction heating accessories are disclosed. An example induction heating accessory comprises: a coupling circuit configured to be electromagnetically coupled to a cable carrying induction heating current; a power extraction circuit configured to extract power from the induction heating current via the coupling circuit; and circuitry configured to generate an output indicative of the induction heating current flowing through the cable based on receiving power via the induction coil.
