DIGITAL DATA INSERTION APPARATUS AND METHODS FOR USE WITH COMPRESSED AUDIO/VIDEO DATA
20200260130 · 2020-08-13 ·

Methods and apparatus for transmitting audience measurement data or interactive data via a compressed data bitstream are disclosed. Example methods disclosed herein include eliminating a first type of data within a compressed data bitstream, and packing a second type of data within the compressed data bitstream to occupy a first location within the compressed data bitstream from which the first type of data is eliminated. Disclosed example methods also include inserting at least one of audience measurement data or interactive data in a second location within the compressed data bitstream that is expanded as a result of the packing of the second type of data to form a modified compressed data bitstream, and transmitting the modified compressed data bitstream.

Systems and methods for effectively and efficiently receiving, analyzing, and using subscriber content choice information are described. One embodiment of the present invention includes a subscriber-action database, such as a clickstream database, a media-content database, and a merge processor electronically connected to the two databases for merging data in the subscriber-action database with data in the media-content database to create a subscriber content-choice database. The media-content database may include programming and/or advertising data. The media-content database may also include category and context information to provide the capability to comprehensively analyze data in the subscriber content-choice database.

GPS assisted, radio-device communication apparatus and method

An apparatus and method is disclosed to receive location data identifying the current location of a vehicle, for example an automobile or aircraft. A database, storing radio device records, is then queried. Each radio device record in the database identifies a radio device and its location. Radio device records associated with radio devices likely to be within communication range of the vehicle may then be retrieved from the database. The radio device records may be used to generate information for individual ones of radio devices which are likely to be within range of the vehicle and display that radio device information to a vehicle operator via an electronic display. The display may be updated as the vehicle travels to display radio device information as the radio devices come into range of the vehicle and remove radio device information from the display as the vehicle travels out of range.

Reception apparatus, transmission apparatus, and data processing method

The present disclosure describes a reception apparatus that includes demodulation circuitry configured to obtain packets included in a plurality of PLPs (Physical Layer Pipes) of a broadcast stream, and processing circuitry configured to process the packets obtained by the demodulation circuitry. The demodulation circuitry and the processing circuitry are interconnected via a single interface. Each combination of an IP (Internet Protocol) address and a port number of an IP packet or a UDP (User Datagram Protocol) packet included in the plurality of PLPs is unique for each PLP in which the corresponding IP packet or the corresponding UDP packet is included. The processing circuitry is configured to identify a PLP in which one of the packets input via the single interface from the demodulation circuitry is included according to the combination of the IP address and the port number of the one of the packets.

METHODS AND APPARATUS TO DETECT AUDIO ENGINEERING PROBLEMS USING IDENTIFICATION OF ISOLATED WATERMARKS

Example methods and apparatus to detect audio engineering problems using identification of isolated watermarks are disclosed herein. Disclosed example methods include identifying, by executing an instruction with a processor, isolated watermarks in a first set of detected watermarks obtained from first media monitored at a first site. Disclosed example methods further include determining, by executing an instruction with the processor, a problem has been detected with the first media associated with the first set of detected watermarks in response to a first number of isolated watermarks identified in the first set of detected watermarks satisfying a first threshold.

MEDIA CHANNEL IDENTIFICATION WITH VIDEO MULTI-MATCH DETECTION AND DISAMBIGUATION BASED ON AUDIO FINGERPRINT
20200221173 · 2020-07-09 ·

Disclosed are methods and systems to help disambiguate channel identification in a scenario where a video fingerprint of media content matches multiple reference video fingerprints corresponding respectively with multiple different channels. Given such a multi-match situation, an entity could disambiguate based on an audio component of the media content, such as by further determining that an audio fingerprint of the media content at issue matches an audio fingerprint of just one of the multiple channels, thereby establishing that that is the channel on which the media content being rendered by the media presentation device is arriving.
