Methods, systems, and computer program products that provide streaming capabilities to audio input and output devices are disclosed. An audio processing device connects an upstream device to a downstream device. The upstream device is plugged into an input port of the audio processing device. The audio processing device intercepts a signal from the upstream device to the downstream device. The audio processing device converts the signal to digital data and streams the digital data to a server. The digital data can include metadata, e.g., an input gain. The audio processing device can adjust the input gain in response to instructions from the server. The audio processing device feeds a pass-through copy of the audio signal to an output port. A user can connect the downstream device in a usual signal chain into the output port of the audio processing device. The streaming does not affect the user's workflow.

A method and apparatus are provided for generating a personalized radio channel playlist by simultaneously buffering multiple received channels from one or more source streams, and then selecting songs or tracks to playback from the buffered channels. Users can specify favorite channels for building their personal playlists, or multiple default playlist channels can be provided by genre or channels related in some other way. Navigation tools permit users to skip ahead and backward in the playback stream. A personalized radio channel playlist can be implemented as (1) content selected from buffered channels based on user preferences for artists, songs and the like, or (2) as a Mix Channel in which content from selected buffered channels is automatically mixed for playback in response to selection of a preset button assigned to the Mix Channel.

The device may be on a wireless network, a wired network, or directly coupled to the device sending the link. The link/hotlink contains an associated action that is performed by the device receiving the link. The associated action may be performed when a user interface is activated or automatically when the link/hotlink is received by the device. The action can be a broadcast/streaming action, Internet action, call action, download action, or upload action. The broadcast action instructs the device to tune to a particular broadcast, the streaming action instructs the device to stream specified content/media, the internet action instructs the device to access an Internet site, and the call action instructs the device to call a telephone number. Allocating streaming content on a hybrid network can include searching for streaming content broadcast via broadcast signals over a broadcast network as a communications device is receiving the streaming content via a cellular network. Responsive to identifying, based on the searching, a within-range broadcast source broadcasting the streaming content via broadcast signals, the communications device can begin receiving the streaming content via the broadcast signals over the broadcast network and cease receiving the streaming content via the cellular network.

A method, an apparatus and a system for the reproduction of a specific multimedia content are provided. The method includes the step of acquiring one or more samples of a specific multimedia content reproduced by a mobile multimedia radio/television apparatus, where the specific multimedia content is included in a first signal emitted by a broadcast-type radio/television network, including the further step of determining an identifier of the specific multimedia content and the value of a quality parameter of the first signal. According to the value of the quality parameter of the first signal, further steps include receiving on a multimedia telephone apparatus the specific multimedia content through a second signal emitted by a cellular telephone network, sending the specific multimedia content to one or more multimedia reproduction units included in the mobile multimedia radio/television apparatus.
