A low-power scouting receiver is presented that provides an ability perform low-power scouting functions at a relatively low power. The low-power scouting functions determine context information for the receiver and enable fine-tuning of other receiver operations based on the context information. The low-power scouting functions include receiver control and switching, jammer detection, self-interference detection, or other context-dependent radio parameters.

Systems and methods for decentralized link performance

Systems and methods for evaluating link performance over a multitude of frequencies for Signal-to-Noise Ratio (SNR) optimization and mitigating interference. The methods comprise: communicating, from a first communication device, a first signal over a given channel in a given frequency band; receiving, by the first communication device, spectral power measurements and a Signal-to-Total Power Ratio (STPR) estimate determined based on a second signal including the first signal combined with at least one of noise and one or more interference signals (the STPR estimate accounts for the receiver performance including chip rate processing gain and/or the performance of an interference cancellation circuit used to remove the interference signals from the second signal); and determining, by the first communication device, a predicted Signal-to-Noise Ratio (SNR) condition for a plurality of frequencies within the given frequency band using the STPR estimate and the spectral power measurements.

Systems and methods for vehicle tracking

The invention concerns a vehicle tracking network including a plurality of subscriber vehicles and a control-center; and systems and methods for tracking vehicles, which are subscribers to such vehicle tracking network. In certain implementations, the method for tracking a subscriber vehicle includes the following operations carried out at the subscriber vehicle: monitoring operation of one or more services related to at least one of a wireless network communication service and positioning service associated with the subscriber vehicle; upon detecting a failure in at least one of said services, generating a corresponding distress signal encoded to be identifiable by other subscriber vehicle(s) of the vehicle tracking network; and broadcasting the encoded distress signal such that it is detectable by one or more of the other subscriber vehicles of the vehicle tracking network, which are located in the vicinity of the subscriber vehicle broadcasting the distress signal. Another subscriber vehicle(s), which receive the distress signal, may thereby initiate automatic notification of the condition of the vehicle broadcasting the distress signal to the control center.

Frequency Waterfilling Via Implicit Coordination

The system and method of utilizing frequency waterfilling and implicit coordination to mitigate signal jamming in Link 16 systems. The system and method of utilizing frequency waterfilling for Link 16 includes updates to both software and firmware. The frequency waterfilling approach for Link 16 modifies the process by which data bits are allocated to hops based on an assessment of hops affected by jamming, thus avoiding portions of the spectrum occupied by a jammer.

A system and a method of multi path communication to improve communication between an unmanned air vehicle (UAV) and ground control during a mission is disclosed. A database previously stores a plurality of secure data links to be used on networks during the mission for communicating and are managed for simultaneously distributing data flow among data links according to coverage and UAV location preventing third parties may compromise security of a mission. The database may be updated during the mission if needed.

Agile radar detection for wireless communications

A method and apparatus are disclosed for a wireless communication device capable of scanning for radar signals while detecting and/or receiving a wireless communication signal. The wireless communication device may include a plurality of local oscillator synthesizers to allow distinct frequency bands to be used for wireless communication signals and radar detection. In some embodiments, the wireless communication device may include a radar detection physical layer (PHY) circuit to detect the presence of radar signals within a received RF signal. The radar detection PHY may have limited functionality suitable primarily for radar signal analysis and not suitable for processing (decoding) communication signals.

Systems and methods for detecting wireless communication jamming in a network

An electronic device may include a processor and a network interface that may include a first radio and a second radio. The processor may be configured to perform wireless communication jamming attack detection by occasionally performing clear channel verification utilizing the network interface to determine whether a threshold number of devices' channels are incapacitated in a wireless network within a threshold amount of time and/or by sending a heartbeat signal from the first radio and determining whether the second radio received the heartbeat signal.

Techniques for mitigating cross device co-existence interference

The disclosure provides techniques for reducing interference caused by a first device to a second device receiving a satellite-based positioning signal. A device such as a user equipment (UE) or base station (eNB) determines a threshold transmission power for a transmission frequency of the device. The device also determines a signal strength of the satellite-based positioning system signal at the device. The device then controls a transmission property of the device based on the signal strength of the satellite-based positioning system signal when a transmission power of the device at the transmission frequency satisfies the threshold. The device may also determine that reception of the satellite-based positioning system signal by the second device is likely to be affected by a transmission from the device at a transmission power that satisfies the threshold and control the transmission property when reception of the satellite-based positioning system signal is likely to be affected.
