Spring Unit for a Mattress
The present invention is a spring unit for a mattress comprising first and second pocket springs. Each of the first and second pocket springs comprise a coil pocket comprising a pocket and a coil spring disposed in the pocket and a cushion pocket comprising a pocket and a first resilient member disposed in the pocket of the cushion pocket. Each cushion pocket is engaged with and acting only upon the corresponding coil pocket. Substantially the entire side of the pocket of the coil pocket of the first pocket spring is engaged with substantially the entire side of the pocket of the coil pocket of the second pocket spring. Each cushion pocket is free standing and not connected with each other thereby creating a pumping action upon depression of the first pocket spring and/or the second pocket spring that produces circulation of air within the mattress.
Active airflow temperature controlled bedding systems
A climate controlled bedding system includes at least one coil spring layer; and an air supply fluidly coupled to the one or more fluid conduits. In some embodiments, a filter is disposed within a flow path of a fluid conduit.
CUSTOMIZABLE MATTRESS
A customizable mattress includes a chassis defining a cavity. A spring pack is removably positioned within the cavity. A top pad removably covers at least a portion of the spring pack. In some embodiments, kits and methods of use are provided.
Ventilated mattress core
A mattress core includes sandwiched layer of coils that includes coils disposed between a first spacer fabric layer and a second spacer fabric layer. The mattress core also includes a viscoelastic foam disposed beneath the sandwiched layer of coils. A top surface of the first spacer fabric layer is disposed at or adjacent to a top surface of the mattress core. The first spacer fabric layer defines or more first air channels and the second spacer fabric layer defines one or more second air channels. The one or more first air channels extend above the coils included in the sandwiched layer of coils and the one or more second air channels extends below coils.
POCKETED SPRING UNIT AND METHOD AND APPARATUS FOR FORMING THE SAME
Apparatus for forming a pocketed spring unit, comprising a plurality of strings of pocketed springs and at least one cover sheet, comprises welding tools for welding together the pocketing material and the sheet. One of the welding tools is provided with a cutter for cutting the pocket prior to welding. The tool travels in the direction of Arrow A1, so that the cutter penetrates the pocketing material substantially centrally at the circular proximal end face of the pocket. Once inside the pocket, the tool moves axially through the centre of the spring until it reaches the distal end face of the pocket. Before the end face is reached, the piercing member becomes retracted in the direction of Arrow A2, so that the blade does not pierce the distal end face of the pocket.
Mattress assembly and method
A mattress assembly includes a chassis having top and bottom walls and first and second sidewalls that each extend from the top wall to the bottom wall. Inner surfaces of the walls and the sidewalls define an interior cavity. The top and bottom walls each include a first section that is connected to the first sidewall and a second section that is connected to the second sidewall such that the first sections are pivotable relative to the first sidewall and the second sections are pivotable relative to the second sidewall. The first section of the top wall is pivotable relative to the second section of the top wall and the first section of the bottom wall is pivotable relative to the second section of the bottom wall. A spring assembly is configured to be positioned within the interior cavity.
METHOD OF MONITORING THE QUALITY OF A MATTRESS
The invention pertains to a method of monitoring the quality of a mattress during its lifetime, wherein the mattress is an assembly of multiple separate parts, wherein the parts are mechanically interconnected, the method comprising during its lifetime, assessing at least one property of the mattress, determining whether or not the property meets a predetermined specification, and when the property does not meet the predetermined specification, identifying a part of the said multiple separate parts that corresponds to the property, removing the identified part from the assembly and optionally replacing the removed part with a replacement part, wherein the mattress that is monitored is manufactured by forming the mechanical interconnection with an adhesive, which adhesive has a first order phase-transition temperature between 80° C. and 180° C., at which temperature the adhesive undergoes a solid-liquid transition, and wherein before the said removing of the identified part, the adhesive with which this part is interconnected with other parts in the assembly is heated to a temperature above its phase-transition temperature, whereafter the identified part is grasped and pulled out of the assembly. The invention also pertains to a method of manufacturing a mattress suitable for use in this monitoring method.
AUTOMATIC ADAPTIVE COMFORT FOR BUNK MATTRESS
The disclosure relates to a bunk, in particular for a vehicle cabin. The bunk comprises a base plate, an upper layer, a plurality of supporting members vertically compressible and spaced apart from one another substantially over the whole surface of the bunk, a plurality of pressure sensors which are part of the upper layer and in an adaptable area comprising at least one area of the bunk, a moving mechanism configured to move at least some of the supporting members in the adaptable area parallel to the base plate, and a control unit connected to the pressure sensors and the moving mechanism. The control unit is configured to cause the moving mechanism to move the supporting members in the adaptable area as a function of the current pressure data provided by the pressure sensors, to locally change the density of the supporting members to provide a locally variable bunk firmness.
MATTRESSES INCLUDING A ZONED CUSHIONING LAYER AND RELATED METHODS
Mattress assemblies are disclosed herein. The mattress assemblies can include a multilayered construction having a base layer, a coil layer, and a zoned cushioning layer. The zoned cushioning layer can include two or more cushioning members made of an elastomeric cushioning material. The cushioning members can be disposed in a hip region, a shoulder region, and/or a leg region of the mattress assembly. One or more support and/or comfort layers can also be included.
FOAM COMFORT LAYER WITH LIQUID PODS AND METHOD OF MAKING SAME
A comfort layer for a bedding or seating product has liquid pods sandwiched between plies of fabric. The plies of fabric are joined with seams thereby creating pockets, at least one liquid pod being inside each pocket. Each seam joining opposed plies of fabric around each of the liquid pods of the comfort layer may be segmented or solid, depending upon the fabric and type of seam.
