User-initiated quality of service modification in a mobile device
A system and method that facilitates mobile device selection among available qualities of service is described herein. A mobile device presents a user interface to enable selection of change to a current quality of service on the mobile device. The user interface further enables selection of one or more parameters associated with the selected change to the current quality of service. In response to the selection, the mobile device transmits to the telecommunications network the selected change in quality of service. The mobile device then receives the selected change in quality of service if the telecommunications network is able to accommodate the selected change.
Egress cost optimization for multi-cloud network
Some embodiments provide a method for evaluating locations of applications in a multi-cloud network with applications located in different cloud datacenters of one or more cloud providers. The method receives data for flows collected from the cloud datacenters. The data for each flow indicates a source and destination of the flow and applications to which at least one of the source and destination of the flow belong. The method uses network topology data to identify a subset of the flows as egress flows, each of which is charged by a cloud provider at which the flow source is located. Based on data from the cloud providers, the method determines a cost for each of the egress flows and a cost associated with each of the applications. The method provides these costs to users of the network for the users to optimize locations of the applications in the different cloud datacenters.
Method and packet core system for common charging of network connectivity and cloud resource utilization
A user equipment (UE) a packet core system and method for common charging of network connectivity and cloud resource utilization for the UE. Upon receipt of a service request from the UE the packet core system sends a service definition of common network connectivity and cloud service classes. The UE sends a request for a network connectivity and cloud resource service with a common network connectivity and cloud service classes. The common class is translated into a first network connectivity class and a second cloud service class. A request for a cloud service comprising the second cloud service class is sent to a cloud node, and charging event is received from the cloud node. The charging event is merged with a charging event of network connectivity according to the first network connectivity class. A merged charging event, according to the requested common network connectivity and cloud service class, is achieved.
Secure tokens for controlling access to a resource in a resource distribution network
A system for generating and applying a secure token in a resource distribution network is provided. For example, a headend system generates a time-based token based on a time duration specified for a meter. The time-based token indicates the time duration for the meter. The time-based token is further generated based on an identifier of the meter. The headend system transmits the time-based token to the meter via at least a mesh network. After receiving the time-based token, the meter validates the time-based token to determine that the time-based token is generated for the meter based on information related to the identifier of the meter. If the meter determines that the time-based token is valid, the meter connects premises associated with the meter to a resource distribution network for at least the time duration specified in the time-based token.
Information processing system and charge calculation apparatus
A user tag addition apparatus adds user tags, each of which includes an organization code and a unit price code, to respective service use requests. A service execution apparatus executes provision services based on service use requests, associates the usages of a resource used for the execution of the provision services with the corresponding user tags, and registers the associated information in use result information. A charge calculation apparatus calculates charges for the provision services for each organization based on unit price information corresponding to the unit price codes indicated in the user tags registered in the use result information and the usages of the resource associated with the user tags.
Provision of information regarding at least one communication type
The invention relates to a method for providing information on at least one communication type for a communication service to a user terminal wherein a request of a communication service with a subscriber information is received; a first inquiry to an application server is generated; a second inquiry to a register is generated; at least one communication type meeting criterion is determined; a data record for providing information on the determined at least one communication type is generated and transmitted to the user terminal requesting the communication service. The invention also relates to a network node implementing the method and a computer program product.
NETWORK RESOURCE MANAGEMENT WITH PREDICTION
An indicator for a device may provide an indication that a threshold associated with a budget for a network resource has or will be reached. When a user requests a network operation that will consume the network resource, an amount of the network resource to be consumed by the operation is predicted, if possible. If the prior use of the network resource and the amount to be used to complete the network operation exceeds a threshold the user may be warned and given an opportunity to cancel the operation or adjust the way in which the operation will be performed. If the amount of network resource a network operation will consume is unknown, a rate of use of the network resource is determined and a time until the budget is reached is estimated.
INTELLIGENT SEARCH SYSTEM FOR SERVICE COST AND METHOD THEREOF
A search system including: a data management unit for collecting raw cost data including information on a usage amount of the time unit for cloud service resources, a usage log, and cost thereby provided from the cloud service to extract each item of billing history included the raw cost data as an item, setting the item as a search key for cost search, and classifying the cost into each item of the billing history to generate cost data; a cost data unit for storing the cost data; a cost search application for providing an interface for cost search; a filtering unit for setting the search key for each item for cost search, and filtering the result searched from the cost data unit; and a search unit for generating a cost report based on the cost data included in the filtered searched result.
APPLICATION RESOURCE USAGE INFORMATION
An environment is described in which a processing system provides application-level usage information to users. In one scenario, for example, the processing system may provide personal usage information to a user who is operating a user device. The personal usage information itemizes the amount of data (and/or other resources) that has been consumed by each application run by the user device. In another scenario, the processing system may provide expected usage information associated with at least one candidate application provided by a marketplace system. The expected usage information describes an expected consumption of data (and/or other resources) by the candidate application upon running the candidate application by the user device. The processing system can tailor the expected usage information that it sends to a particular user based on user profile data. The user profile data describes a manner in which users operate applications.
