A method and a system for transmitting messages containing multimedia information or content that enables transmission and communication of multimedia messages between subscribers connected to telecommunication systems of different system operators. The inventive system includes a first mobile station terminal from which a multimedia message is sent, a second mobile station terminal that is the intended recipient of the multimedia message, a digital mobile network, a first multimedia message server for receiving a multimedia message from the first mobile station terminal, a first address database associated with the first multimedia message server, a second multimedia message server for receiving the multimedia message from the first multimedia message server, an IP network for carrying communications between the first and second multimedia message servers, and a second address database associated with the second multimedia message server.

A method is implemented in a credit control server (CCS). The method includes receiving, at the CCS from a credit control client (CCC), a message associated with a multiple services credit control (MSCC) session, where the message includes a request for service units associated with a service account. The method further includes determining, at the CCS, that insufficient service units are available in the service account and notifying the CCC that service units need to be added to the service account. The method also includes maintaining, at the CCS, MSCC session related parameters while the CCC adds service units to the service account.

An exemplary method comprises associating one or more usage rights with content, wherein the usage rights are based at least in part on a usage rights grammar, and wherein each of the usage rights corresponds to a permitted utilization of the content and one or more conditions which must be satisfied in order for the respective usage right to be exercised, receiving from an external computing device external, a request to access the content, the request corresponding to a utilization of the content, determining whether the requested utilization corresponds to at least one of the usage rights associated with the content, and transmitting to an external a computing device, at least one of the usage rights based at least in part on a determination that the requested utilization corresponds to at least one of the usage rights.

Embodiments of a method for automatically rebilling a metered activity comprise: detecting a metered activity in a tiered software framework having a first tier, a second tier, and a third tier with a first subscriber subscribed to the second tier, and a second subscriber subscribed to the third tier; instantiating a meter to monitor usage of the metered activity; simultaneously instantiating a first debit service at the first tier and a second debit service at the second tier; computing, by the first debit service, first usage credits of the usage; debiting the first usage credits from a first digital wallet of the first subscriber at the second tier; computing, by the second debit service, second usage credits of the usage; and debiting the second usage credits from a second digital wallet of the second subscriber at the third tier.
