Solutions are proposed herein that provide several alternatives for how an AMF can perform discovery of a proper MB-SMF or MB-SMF instance in the network.

Balanced network and method
11609864 · 2023-03-21 ·

A low-latency, high-bandwidth, and highly scalable method delivers data from a source device to multiple communication devices on a communication network. Under this method, the communication devices (also called player nodes) provide download and upload bandwidths for each other. In this manner, the bandwidth requirement on the data source is significantly reduced. Such a data delivery network is scalable without limits with the number of player nodes. In one embodiment, a computer network includes (a) a source server that provides a data stream for delivery in the computer network, (b) player nodes that exchange data with each other to obtain a complete copy of the data stream, the network nodes being capable of dynamically joining or exiting the computer network, and (c) a control server which maintains a topology graph representing connections between the source server and the player nodes, and the connections among the player nodes themselves. In one embodiment, the control server is associated with a network address (e.g., an IP address) known to both the source server and the player nodes. The data stream may include, for example, a real-time broadcast of a sports event.

Method and system for group call using unicast and multicast
11611602 · 2023-03-21 · ·

A method and a system for performing a group call using unicast and multicast are provided. A group call method performed by a first client device, may include: establishing a media session with a server providing a group call service based on a group call request from the first client device; transmitting, to the server through the media session, at least one first packet including a first source identifier of the first client device; providing a user interface at the first client device, that enables selecting at least one second client device from a plurality of second client devices that participate in a group call initiated by the first client device; and transmitting, from the first client device to the server, at least one second packet including a second source identifier of the selected at least one second client device as a destination of data included in the at least one second packet.

SELECTING A RENDEZVOUS POINT IN AN IP MULTICAST-CAPABLE NETWORK

Some examples relate to selection of a rendezvous point in an IP multicast network managing multicast group traffic. An example includes transmitting, from a controller in a cloud computing system, messages to a source device and a host device in an IP multicast-capable network, which may include two peer network devices that are virtualized to function as one virtual device. Based on the response to the messages, the controller may determine that the source device is present in OSI layer 3 and the host device is present in OSI layer 2. The controller may determine that the peer network are located downstream in relation to the determined layer of the source device. The controller may select a non-peer network device as a rendezvous point in the IP multicast-capable network. Further to the selection, the controller may synchronize an active-active configuration between the peer network devices.

A method of MB delivery of Downlink (DL) MB Data to a plurality of Electronic Devices (EDs) connected to a (Radio) Access Network (R)AN node, the method comprises: storing the DL MB Data in a buffer of the (R)AN node; and transmitting, by the (R)AN node, the DL MB Data to the plurality of EDs.

CALCULATING STRUCTURAL DIFFERENCES FROM BINARY DIFFERENCES IN PUBLISH SUBSCRIBE SYSTEM
20230125430 · 2023-04-27 ·

A method for more efficient structural parsing of binary representations of text based objects within a data distribution system. Clients subscribe to a topic maintained by the data distribution system server that publishers can publish to. Clients receive an original binary representation of a text based object describing the state of the topic to which the client is subscribed. In response to the state of the topic changing at the data distribution system server, clients receive a binary delta representing the change of the state of the topic. Based on the received binary representation and the binary delta, clients calculate an updated binary representation of the text based object. Using the original binary representation, the updated binary representation, and the binary delta, the client generates a structural delta representing the structural differences between data structures of the original text based object and data structures of the updated text based object.

FRONTHAUL INTERFACE FOR USE WITH A CLOUD RADIO ACCESS NETWORK

A system includes a plurality of remote units; a centralized unit communicatively coupled to the plurality of remote units via a fronthaul network; and an entity that performs deep packet inspection. The centralized unit transmits sets of data to the plurality of remote units across the fronthaul network in packets, each of the sets of data mapped to at least one of the plurality of remote units and each of the packets including a respective indicator indicating each remote unit the associated packet is intended for, wherein each indicator comprises a plurality of bit positions where each bit position is mapped to a different one of the plurality of remote units. The entity performs the deep packet inspection on the packets to determine each remote unit the packets are intended for and communicate each packet to each remote unit the packet is intended for over the fronthaul network.

APPLICATION SPECIFIC NETWORK SLICES

Disclosed are systems, apparatuses, methods, and computer-readable media for participating in a meeting through an application provider using application-specific network slices. A method includes transmitting a request to a mobile network operator (MNO) for setup of a data connection with a device for a meeting provided by an application provider; receiving allowed network slices for the data connection that are generated by the MNO for the meeting; identifying a network slice from the allowed network slices for the meeting based on one or more characteristics specific to the meeting; and establishing the data connection with the mobile network operator based on the network slice.
