Systems and methods for collection, management, and distribution of data with a crowdsourced knowledge data base are disclosed. The systems and methods may be configured for: storing information in a standardized format in one or more network-based databases having a collection of records stored thereon; providing remote access to users over a network so any one of the users can update the information about a record in the collection of records in real time through a graphical user interface, wherein the one of the users provides the updated information in a non-standardized format; converting the updated information into the standardized format; storing the standardized updated information in the database in the standardized format; generating a message containing the updated information whenever one has been stored; and transmitting the message to all of the users over the network in real time, so that each user has immediate access to up-to-date information.

The activity can also be a live utterance (e.g., a live announcement), which can then be instantly converted into a digitized voice alert for automatic delivery in a selected series of languages following the base language (e.g., English). The combined digitized voice alert can then be instantly transmitted through a network for broadcast of consecutive alerts (e.g., English followed by Spanish followed by Vietnamese, etc.) to one or more remote electronic devices that communicate with the network for an automatic audio announcement of the digitized voice alert through the one or more remote electronic devices.

A method and apparatus for managing network status information in a network, such as a satellite mesh network. A network node receives a network status update, indicative of a change in network conditions, from another node, e.g. via flooding. Based on a direction of travel of the update, content of at least one counter field of the network status update is adjusted. The update is then propagated, or not, based on the counter fields. A counter field may be increased in response to the update travelling in one direction and decreased in response to the update travelling in an opposite direction. Different counter fields may be adjusted in response to the update travelling in different, e.g. orthogonal, directions. The direction can be determined based on which of plural directional communication interfaces received the update.
