20230208670 · 2023-06-29 ·

A playback device includes programming for connecting to a first wireless local area network (WLAN) and storing a first set of network configuration parameters including an identifier of the first WLAN and a first security parameter for the first WLAN. The functions also include disconnecting from the first WLAN, receiving a second set of network configuration parameters including an identifier of a second WLAN and a second security parameter for the second WLAN, and storing the second set of network configuration parameters. The functions also include reconnecting to the first WLAN using the stored first set of network configuration parameters and, after reconnecting to the first WLAN, transmitting, absent user request, the second set of network configuration parameters to at least one other playback device that is connected to the first WLAN for storage on the at least one other playback device that is connected to the first WLAN.

Smart Device Provisioning

Aspects of the disclosure provide for a method implemented by a computing device executing an artificial intelligence electronic assistant application. In some examples, the method includes searching a local area network for smart home devices to determine an identifier associated with a smart home device, provisioning the smart home device to an ecosystem of devices that is managed by the computing device, and automatically arbitrating communication of the smart home device based on the provisioning.

Establishing groups of internet of things (IOT) devices and enabling communication among the groups of IOT devices

The disclosure generally relates to enabling communication among one or more Internet of Things (IoT) device groups. In particular, various heterogeneous IoT devices that may need to interact with one another in different ways may be organized into IoT device groups to support efficient interaction among the IoT devices. For example, pre-defined IoT device groups may be formed organize certain IoT devices that perform similar activities and certain IoT devices may be dynamically allocated to ad-hoc IoT device groups for certain contexts (e.g., the ad-hoc IoT device groups may include IoT devices that can implement a desired function and therefore be dynamically formed to implement the desired function). Furthermore, the IoT groups may communicate hierarchically, wherein messages may be exchanged among IoT group owners or ranking members to support efficient communication between different IoT groups.

Automated device discovery on a building network

Techniques and solutions are provided for performing automated device discovery over a network operating according to the building automation and control network (BACnet) protocol standard (a BACnet network). For example, automated device discovery on a BACnet network can be performed via automated processing of BACnet traffic without going through a manual discovery and configuration process, and without binding to BACnet devices. For example, who-is and I-am BACnet messages can be used to identify BACnet devices on the network and their property values can be read and displayed (e.g., in a dashboard interface). BACnet devices can also be queried to determine their supported properties.

Home appliance, terminal device, and wireless connection method thereof

A home appliance is disclosed. The disclosed home appliance comprises: a communication device for performing communication using a plurality of communication methods; and a processor for, when wireless identification information of a home appliance is received from an external server via a first communication method, controlling the communication device to operate in an access point (AP) mode in which communication is performed in a second communication method by using the received wireless identification information, wherein the processor is connected to a terminal device via the second communication method, and if wireless configuration information for an access point accessed by the terminal device is received from the terminal device, the processor controls the communication device to access the access point via a third communication method by using the received wireless configuration information.

Transmitting appliance-specific content to a user device
09843458 · 2017-12-12 · ·

Methods and systems are presented for transmitting appliance-specific content to a user device associated with an appliance. In some embodiments, a third party platform may serve as a secure intermediary between a user device associated with an appliance (e.g., an oven) and a third party appliance service provider (e.g., appliance manufacturer). In some embodiments, the third party platform database may store appliance ownership data from the user device and compare an appliance search provided by the appliance service provider with the appliance ownership data in order to match an appliance service provider with a user device associated with an appliance meeting the criteria of the appliance search. The appliance service provider may efficiently transmit appliance-specific content (e.g., a list of approved or preferred appliance servicers) to the appliance user by way of the appliance user's user device. In some embodiments, the data exchange facilitated by the third party platform may be customized based on user-specified appliance center settings.

REMOTE CONTROL DOCKING STATION AND SYSTEM
20170345290 · 2017-11-30 ·

The system, method and device for enabling remote-control of consumer electronic devices is disclosed. The system may comprise, a first communication device, a second communication device wherein the second communication device is communicatively coupled with the first communication device. The second communication device is capable of receiving one or more input control signals from the first communication device. The system further comprises, a docking station electronically coupled with the second communication device. The processor may perform demodulating and modulating of the one or more input control signals received by the second communication device from the first communication device. The processor may retrieve one or more infrared codes from a preconfigured database based upon the one or more modulated control signals and transmitting the one or more infrared codes to one or more consumer electronics device in order to remotely control the one or more consumer electronics.

Device Communication, Monitoring and Control Architecture and Method
20220360495 · 2022-11-10 ·

A communication interface and a device control, management and monitoring system are provided to enable the networking of and communication between multiple devices operating under different protocols. The communication interface may act as a translator or protocol converter that reformats transmissions from one protocol to another based on protocol compatibility between the recipient and transmitting devices. The device control and monitoring system may store predefined rules that are triggered when specified conditions associated with the networked devices are detected. The rules may specify an action to take such as transmitting a discount offer to a user or turning off a light. According to one or more arrangements, the communication interface may act as an intermediary between the networked devices and the device control system so that the device control system is not required to understand or be compatible with the various other protocols used by the networked devices.
