A door for a refrigeration unit having a transparent panel assembly having an outer transparent panel and an inner transparent panel. The outer transparent panel has an outer side, an inner side, and top, bottom, left, and right edges and the inner transparent panel has an outer side, an inner side and top, bottom, left, and right edges. A decorative design is applied to the inner side of the outer transparent panel. A population of light sources are positioned on the top, bottom, left and/or right edges of the outer transparent panel and are capable of emitting light into the outer transparent panel, such that the decorative design is capable of being illuminated by the population of light sources.

Thermally insulated door assembly and method

A thermally insulated door assembly includes first and second panes of light transmissive material, a light assembly, and a heat sink. The first pane and the second pane are spaced apart from each other by a separation gap to define an interior chamber. The light assembly is in the interior chamber between the first pane and the second pane, and is configured to generate light within the interior chamber. The heat sink is disposed within the interior chamber and coupled with the light assembly and an inwardly facing surface of the first pane. The heat sink is configured to conduct thermal energy generated by the light assembly onto an inwardly facing surface of the first pane and into the interior chamber such that the inwardly facing surface of the first pane and the interior chamber are heated by the light assembly.

A refrigerated merchandiser includes a refrigerated insulated cabinet having a front wall that is hingedly attached to the cabinet. The front wall is rotatable between a closed position covering a storage area in the cabinet and an open position permitting access to the storage area. An opening is provided in the front wall to permit merchandise to be removed from the storage area when the front wall is in the closed position. Adjusting the front wall to the open position permits pallets loaded with merchandise, including ice bags, to be loaded into the merchandiser with a wheeled lifting device such as a forklift or hand jack. The bottom wall of the merchandiser may be removable, such that the entire floor supporting the pallet may be removed and exchanged through the opened front wall. A roller may be provided on the front wall to help in adjusting the front wall between the open and closed positions.

Bus bar connection and coating technology

The invention provides an IG unit comprising two panes and a between-pane space located between the two panes. A desired surface of a selected one of the two panes bears a coating comprising both a transparent conductive oxide film, and an overcoat film located over the transparent conductive oxide film. The IG unit further comprises a bus bar and a transparent conductor bridge each located over the desired surface. The bus bar is spaced apart from the coating and is connected electrically to the transparent conductive oxide film by virtue of the transparent conductor bridge extending from the bus bar to a top surface of the overcoat film. In some embodiments, the IG unit further comprises a frit located over the desired surface and extending around a perimeter thereof. The bus bar is located over the frit. Certain embodiments provide a refrigerator having a door comprising such an IG unit.
