Communications hub

A method for bandwidth sharing is provided. The method may include getting a list of neighboring communications hubs, the neighboring communications hubs being disposed in respective neighboring residences. The neighboring communications hubs may be communicatively coupled to the first communications hub using a first broadband data network provisioned by an Internet Service Provider (ISP), and the neighboring residences may be within a same predetermined geographic region as the first residence or within a predetermined temporal distance on a data network from the first residence. The method determines if a data requirement exceeds bandwidth available to the first communications hub and provides a request for data to a neighboring communications hub. The request corresponds to the data requirement. The method then receives data responsive to the request from the neighboring communications hub.

Guard intervals for wireless networks

This disclosure describes methods, apparatus, and systems to increase the transmission data rate in wireless networks, for example, by using one or more Multiple Input Multiple Output (MIMO) and/or channel bonding techniques. In one embodiment, the disclosure describes the use of Golay Sequence Sets (GSS) to define guard intervals (GIs) for single carrier (SC) single channel bonding and multiple input multiple output (MIMO) transmission. In various embodiments, the disclosure describes the design of guard interval sequence for 3 types of guard intervals having lengths that can be classified as short, medium, and long. In another embodiment, the disclosure defines the guard interval for single channel transmission channel bonding and for MIMO transmission.

SYSTEM FOR HOSTING DATA LINK LAYER AGENT, PROTOCOL, AND MANAGEMENT FUNCTIONS

Novel tools and techniques in a telecommunication network are provided for implementing a data link layer control plane that may comply with the Ethernet standard and with sub-millisecond transmission control capabilities across multiple dis-similar technologies and bandwidth links. The data link protocol system may be implemented through a cloud system. Setting and resource registries of the nodes in the network may be displayed at a cloud portal for users to adjust the network. The change in the setting may be communicated through an application programming interface of a compute host to change the setting of the network. Each DLP node includes a slow agent and a fast agent. The slow agent is configured to transmit data messages through Ethernet frames. The fast agent is configured to transmit control messages through DLP frames. Each DLP frame includes a header only without a payload and the header carries a control message.

SYSTEM FOR IMPLEMENTING A DATA LINK LAYER PROTOCOL IN A COMPUTE HOST

Novel tools and techniques are provided for implementing a data link protocol (DLP) resource as a user managed cloud resource with compliance tools, automated service delivery, federate-able cloud single sign-on, and agile resource integration. A method for implementing a telecommunication network protocol in an application layer includes establishing, at an application layer, data traffic between first and second DLP nodes. Each DLP node may be implemented at a processor, a virtual switch, or a software application. Each DLP node may include a slow agent and a fast agent. The method may also include determining that the data traffic needs a control message. The method may also include generating the control message at the application layer and injecting the control message to the header of a DLP frame. The DLP frame does not include the payload. The DLP frame is transmitted from the first DLP node to the second DLP node.

Multi-region virtual overlay wide area network

Disclosed herein are systems and methods for the creation, management, and utilization of a multi-region virtual overlay wide area network from a plurality of special purpose network appliances. In exemplary embodiments, multiple regions are created for the virtual overlay wide area network, each region having its own network topology. At least one network appliance from each region is in communication with at least one network appliance from each other region, for inter-region connectivity within the virtual overlay wide area network. A subnet sharing protocol can be utilized to exchange routing information among each network appliance within each region, and between each region.

Methods and systems are provided for power control in communications devices. Bonding of channels in communication devices may be dynamically adjusted, such as responsive to requests for bandwidth adjustment. For example, bonded channel configurations may be adjusted based on power, such as to single channel configurations (or to channel configurations with small number of channels, such as relative to current configurations) for low power operations. Components (or functions thereof) used in conjunction with receiving and/or processing bonded channels may be dynamically adjusted. Such dynamic adjustments may be performed, for example, such as to maintain required synchronization and system information to facilitate rapid data transfer resumption upon demand.

MANAGEMENT OF THE CONNECTION WITH OTHER RESIDENTIAL GATEWAYS OF A RESIDENTIAL GATEWAY IMPLEMENTING LINK AGGREGATION
20200336411 · 2020-10-22 ·

A method for managing the connection to other devices of a network device such as a residential gateway, is presented. The method prevents the other devices from being offered the ability to perform aggregation via the device which implements the method if this device itself performs link aggregation with other devices in order to increase its bandwidth. One thus avoids stream crossovers which reduce to naught the benefit of performing link aggregation between several residential gateways.

SYSTEMS AND METHODS OF COMMUNICATIONS NETWORK FAILURE DETECTION AND REMEDIATION UTILIZING LINK PROBES

Systems and methods for communications network failure detection and remediation utilizing link probes are disclosed. Exemplary methods include: receiving first communications from a first client; authenticating the first user of the first client; creating a registration for the first client in a registration database; establishing a connection to the first client; detecting the connection to the first client has failed, the detecting comprising using a link probe to test connectivity of the first client and utilizing a voting scheme, based on the plurality of connectivity test results, to determine that the connection to the first client has failed; receiving second communications from the second client; authenticating the first user of the second client using the telephone number and the security credential; removing the registration for the first client from the registration database; creating a registration for the second client; and establishing a connection to the second client.

HYBRID CONTROL PLANE DATA LINK AGENT AND PROTOCOL

Novel tools and techniques in a telecommunication network are provided for implementing a data link layer control plane that may comply with the Ethernet standard and with sub-millisecond transmission control capabilities across multiple dis-similar technologies and bandwidth links. The framework provides a dynamic modular traffic control function insertion, removal, mapping function by having interpreter functions in the protocol agents that can map states and commands to sub-service chain functions that are configured per path and quality of service (QoS) flows. The control protocol provides high levels of resiliency and reliability by having a replicating function that transmits the same control protocol frames across multiple links simultaneously. The agents are multi-chassis capable and support hitless service impacts for administrative changes. Control plane messages may be encoded as a data plane frame and be transmitted at a high rate using the data plane.
