20180198553 · 2018-07-12 ·

Provided are a fiber-to-the-home implementing method and device. The method includes: receiving, by a virtual Passive Optical Network Medium Access Control (PON MAC) of an Optical Network Unit (ONU), a first packet from an Optical Line Terminal (OLT), determining that the first packet matches the virtual PON MAC, and searching a preset corresponding relationship for a first buffer area corresponding to the virtual PON MAC receiving the first packet; buffering, by the ONU, the received first packet in the searched first buffer area; and sending, by the ONU, the first packet in the first buffer area to a user via a User Network Interface (UNI) corresponding to the first buffer area.

Cross layer coordinated channel bonding

Different data communication architectures receive a wide variety of content, including audio and video content, for consumers. The architectures employ channel bonding to deliver more bandwidth than any single communication channel can carry. In some implementations, the communication architectures receive distributed video programming in the form of MPEG2 TS packets, flagged by marker packets. Channel bonding synchronization information may be present in packets defined above the data-link layer or received in fields within data-link layer frames.

A method is described and in one embodiment includes providing a physical connection between a node and a user equipment at a subscriber premises via a cable connection, wherein the node comprises a Data Over Cable Service Interface Specification (DOCSIS) remote PHY device (RPD) collocated with a cellular small cell device; receiving at the node a cellular downlink (DL) data signal from a cellular network connected to the cellular small cell device; combining the received cellular DL data signal with a DOCSIS downstream (DS) signal from a cellular network connected to the DOCSIS RPD to create a combined DS data signal; and forwarding the combined DS data signal from the node to the user equipment via the cable connection.

Communications hub

A method for bandwidth sharing is provided. The method may include getting a list of neighboring communications hubs, the neighboring communications hubs being disposed in respective neighboring residences. The neighboring communications hubs may be communicatively coupled to the first communications hub using a first broadband data network provisioned by an Internet Service Provider (ISP), and the neighboring residences may be within a same predetermined geographic region as the first residence or within a predetermined temporal distance on a data network from the first residence. The method determines if a data requirement exceeds bandwidth available to the first communications hub and provides a request for data to a neighboring communications hub. The request corresponds to the data requirement. The method then receives data responsive to the request from the neighboring communications hub.

MULTIPLE SITE ROLLING UPGRADE PROTOCOL

Improving the multi-site software update for extension switches by automatically assigning extension switches at each data center with a role and then providing state messages between the extension switches to stage software update operations between the various extension switches that are involved. This allows the network administrator to commence the software update process on the extension switches at each data center without waiting for any extension switch to complete operations. The extension switches communicate with each other and the software update process completes automatically, with all extension switches at all data centers updated without further network administrator input.

Dynamic audio/video channel bonding

A data communication architecture delivers a wide variety of content, including audio and video content, to consumers. The architecture employs channel bonding to deliver more bandwidth than any single communication channel can carry. In some implementations, the communication architecture communicates content according to an initial bonding configuration. The communication architecture may adjust the bonding configuration to adapt to bonding environment changes affecting the communication capabilities or requirements associated with transmitting the content.

According to one general aspect, a method may include aggregating a plurality of network interfaces into a combinatorial network interface group, wherein each network interface provides a respective amount of bandwidth to at least one communications network. The method may also include receiving a request, from an application, to access at least one network resource via a communications network. The method may also include selecting at least one network interface included by the combinatorial network interface group to fulfill the network request based, at least in part, upon the bandwidth provided by the combination of bandwidths provided by the selected network interfaces. The method may further include accessing the network resource via the selected network interface.
