Broadband profile management

Systems and methods for performing broadband profile management in a cable network are disclosed. The method may include establishing a network connection with a cable modem termination System (CMTS) and discovering OFDM channels utilized by the cable network where each of the OFDM channels includes a plurality of OFDM subcarriers. In addition, a current set of profiles for the cable network is discovered and each of the profiles defines a modulation order for each of the plurality of OFDM subcarriers in each OFDM channel. Signal quality values are obtained for the plurality of OFDM subcarriers to generate a mapping between the signal quality values and the OFDM subcarriers, and a plurality of profiles are generated based upon the mapping between the signal quality values and the OFDM subcarriers. Then each of the cable modems is assigned to one of the plurality of profiles.

METHOD AND APPARATUS FOR CONTROLLING USER EQUIPMENT TO ACCESS NETWORK, AND DEVICE
20240031196 · 2024-01-25 ·

This application discloses a method for controlling user equipment to access a network. After receiving a request packet sent by a gateway control plane device, a control device obtains, by parsing the request packet, a home identifier corresponding to first user equipment. The control device determines, based on the home identifier, a corresponding first target gateway user plane device when the first user equipment goes online, so that a plurality of user equipments corresponding to a same home identifier all go online through the first target gateway user plane device.

The technology allows a field network operator to connect a network termination device (NTD) to a network access node (NAN) of the telecommunication network and automatically receive, on a mobile communication device, information related to physical and logical location of the communication port where the NTD is connected.

Method and apparatus for sharing broadband communication services
10530604 · 2020-01-07 · ·

Mobile communication services that include voice calls, text messages, and internet are transitioning from circuit switched to packet switched networks such as internet. Although internet usage by mobile devices is on the rise, voice calls and text messages continue to be routinely and widely used. Most users at home or office may typically have phones that may be primarily based on wired connections. Although the eventual connection to the network may be wired, cordless phones may be used within the premises to connect with the base of the cordless phone which may connect to the wired network. A method and apparatus are disclosed that enable multi-user service with single broadband internet service in a base device and distribute the voice and text message service to the other users in the local premises. This may enable reduced cost and power consumption along with improved performance and user experience.

Method and apparatus for predicting successful DSL line optimization
10512000 · 2019-12-17 · ·

A DSL management system predicts achieving improved DSL line performance before a DSL optimizer in the DSL management system optimizes performance of the DSL line. The system obtains a current state of performance of the DSL line before optimization, and a target state of performance of the DSL line after optimization. The system further obtains a measure of the DSL line characteristics of the DSL line, and identifies, from among a plurality of records of performance information correspondingly associated with a plurality of DSL lines, a subset of the records of performance information correspondingly associated with a subset of DSL lines having a similar measure of the DSL line characteristics as the DSL line for which achieving improved DSL line performance is to be predicted. The system obtains a probability that the DSL optimizer will optimize the performance of the DSL line from the current state of performance to the target state of performance, based on a frequency with which the identified subset of records of information associated with the subset of DSL lines indicates that the DSL optimizer previously has optimized the performance of the subset of DSL lines from a same or similar state as the current state of performance to a same or similar state as the target state of performance.

APPARATUS AND METHODS FOR COORDINATED DELIVERY OF MULTIPLE DATA CHANNELS OVER PHYSICAL MEDIUM
20240098393 · 2024-03-21 ·

Apparatus and methods for unified high-bandwidth, low-latency data services. In one embodiment, a network architecture having service delivery over at least portions of extant infrastructure (e.g., a hybrid fiber coaxial infrastructure) is disclosed, which includes standards-compliant ultra-low latency and high data rate services (e.g., 5G NR services) via a common service provider. In one variant, parallel MIMO data streams supported by 3GPP 5G NR are shifted in frequency before being injected into the single coaxial cable feeder, so that frequency diversity (instead of spatial diversity) is leveraged to achieve the maximum total carrier bandwidth that 3GPP 5G NR chipsets. Intermediate

Frequencies (IF) are transmitted over the media in one implementation, (i.e., instead of higher frequencies), and block-conversion to RF carrier frequency is employed subsequently in the enhanced consumer premises equipment (CPEe) for 3GPP band-compliant interoperability with the 3GPP 5G NR chipset in the CPEe.

Automatic verification of safety for virtualized networks

Described are examples for providing a system for managing configuration and policies for a virtualized wide area network (vWAN) support on a wide area network (WAN). The vWAN includes a plurality of virtual network entities associated with geographic locations including the physical computing resources of the WAN and virtual connections between the virtual network entities. The system includes a network safety component for managing configurations and policies of the vWAN on the WAN. The network safety component receives a change to a policy or configuration of the vWAN from an operator of a network connected to the vWAN. The network safety component evaluates a set of safety rules for the operator based on the change and a network state of a physical WAN underlying the vWAN. The network safety component generates an error message in response to at least one of the set of safety rules failing the evaluation.
