Sync network
The provision of redundancy in a sync network, which protects the sync network against faults, such as broken cables in the sync network. The gateway comprises a sync propagation module configured to provide redundant sync requests that are sent along different pathways in the sync network. These sync requests are sent to towards different masters in the sync network. If a fault occurs at a point in one of the paths, the gateway will still receive a sync acknowledgment returned along the other path. Furthermore, the use of redundant sync networks, propagating the sync requests across different paths, allows fault detection in the wiring to be detected.
Method and system for processing coherent data
Methods, systems and computer readable storage medium for processing coherent data are provided. In an embodiment, a method for processing coherent data includes dividing the coherent data into two separate frames. Further, the method includes applying a same coherency number to the two separate frames and transmitting a signal including the two separate frames to a receiving module. The method also includes determining whether the two separate frames match based on the same coherency number. When the two separate frames match, the method outputs the two separate frames to downstream logic. The method may include adding the two separate frames to a buffer populated with a selected number of most recently received frames and, when the two separate frames do not match, identifying a selected frame from the two separate frames and searching the buffer for a matching frame from the most recently received frames.
Unavailable inter-chassis link storage area network access system
A Storage Area Network (SAN) access includes a first aggregated switch device that is coupled to a host device, a Local Area Network (LAN), and a SAN, and a second aggregated switch device that is coupled to the host device, the LAN, and the SAN. The second aggregated switch device is connected to the first aggregated switch device via an Inter-Chassis Link (ICL). The second aggregated switch device detect that the ICL has become unavailable and, in response, prevents Internet Protocol traffic between the host device and the LAN while transmitting storage traffic between the host device and the SAN.
POWER DELIVERY THROUGH AN OPTICAL SYSTEM
In one embodiment, a method includes receiving power delivered over a data fiber cable at an optical transceiver installed at a network communications device and transmitting data and the power from the optical transceiver to the network communications device. The network communications device is powered by the power received from the optical transceiver. An apparatus is also disclosed herein.
AUTHENTICATING A DEVICE IN A COMMUNICATION NETWORK OF AN AUTOMATION INSTALLATION
A method authenticates a device in a communication network. The method includes transmitting authentication information which indicates the device to an authentication server, which permits or rejects the device as a subscriber in the communication network on the basis of the authentication information. In order that an authentication of a device can also be carried out in a communication network configured with redundancy, the communication network contains two subnetworks. The device is connected to both subnetworks for redundant data transmission. At the start, the device sends authentication requests to access points arranged in the first subnetworks. The access points send the respective received authentication information to an authentication server, which authentication server in each case carries out a check of the authenticity of the device on the basis of the respective received authentication information and, as the result of the check, permits or rejects the device as a subscriber.
Power delivery through an optical system
In one embodiment, an apparatus includes a connector for coupling a cable comprising at least one optical fiber and at least one electrical wire to an optical module at a network communications device, the connector comprising an electrical contact plate for engagement with an electrical contact on the optical module, and a ferrule for receiving the at least one optical fiber. The electrical contact plate is configured for electrically coupling the at least one electrical wire to the electrical contact on the optical module for delivery of power through the optical module.
Network system with two independent and redundant power supply systems
A network system includes: an electric power system including a first power supply system and a second power supply system; a higher-level device connected to a first power supply of the first power supply system and a second power supply of the second power supply system; a first intermediate device connected to the first power supply of the first power supply system and configured to control supply of an electric power to a first lower-level device; and a second intermediate device connected to the second power supply of the second power supply system and configured to control supply of an electric power to a second lower-level device that is a redundant component for the first lower-level device.
Asymmetric CAN-based communication for aerial vehicles
An example embodiment includes a plurality of flight modules including a primary flight module and a secondary flight module. The embodiment includes a CAN controller, a second CAN controller, a first CAN bus configured to transmit primary control signals from the first CAN controller to the primary flight module and to the secondary flight module, and a second CAN bus configured to transmit secondary control signals from the second CAN controller to the primary flight module and the secondary flight module. The primary flight module is configured to perform functions responsive to receiving the primary control signals, and not in response to receiving the secondary control signals and the secondary flight module is configured to perform functions responsive to receiving the secondary control signals, and not in response to receiving the primary control signals.
On-vehicle communication system
Switching hubs such as relay devices capable of path control are arranged at a plurality of branch positions respectively on a wire harness including a trunk line of a communication line. Each of the relay devices includes a failure detection part, a routing map, and a path control part. The trunk line of the communication line is formed to make it possible to use a plurality of types of paths selectively. When the failure detection part in any relay device detects a failure, an instruction of path change is given to another relay device therefrom. When any relay device receives an instruction of path change from another relay device, the routing maps in the relay device receiving the instruction are switched according to a failure occurrence portion. A VLAN is constructed on an Ethernet communication network, and logical assignment of the VLAN is controlled by a central gateway.
COMMUNICATIONS DEVICE HAVING RELAY
A communications device includes a master unit and a block of slave units including a plurality of slave units control by the master unit. Each of the slave units include first and second ports to which different communications lines are connected, respectively, and a relay disposed between the first port and the second port and open/closed depending on whether power is supplied.
