User equipment for receiving coordinated multi-point (COMP) transmissions
Embodiments of an enhanced base station and method for communicating through an enhanced distributed antenna system (eDAS) are generally described herein. The eDAS includes geographically-separated antenna nodes and each of the antenna nodes has a plurality of antenna elements. The base station may perform physical-layer baseband processing for each of the antenna nodes at a centralized processing location, and may cause the antenna nodes to transmit reference signals in accordance with a multiplexing scheme to allow user equipment to perform channel estimation for the antenna elements of any one or more of the antenna nodes. The base station may also cause the antenna nodes to transmit signals having synchronization codes to allow the user equipment to synchronize with the antenna elements of any one or more of the antenna nodes. In some embodiments, the base station may communicate with the antenna nodes over a physical-layer interface.
TERMINAL APPARATUS, BASE STATION APPARATUS, COMMUNICATION METHOD, AND INTEGRATED CIRCUIT
Provided is a technique related to a terminal apparatus, a base station apparatus, a communication system, a communication method, and an integrated circuit that are capable of efficiently performing device-to-device communication. In a case where a terminal apparatus capable of direct communication between terminal apparatuses starts a timer corresponding to a group index that identifies short-range group communication, to which the terminal apparatus belongs, and the timer expires, switching is performed from a first radio resource allocation method, by which a radio resource to be used for the direct communication is requested to a base station apparatus, to a second radio resource allocation method by which the terminal apparatus selects a radio resource to be used for the direct communication.
RULES HANDLING IN A WIRELESS COMMUNICATION SYSTEM
Apparatuses, methods, and systems are disclosed for rules handling. One apparatus includes a processor that determines whether a remote unit will apply network traffic steering data for routing data traffic on a first route across a first access network and a second route across a second access network. In some embodiments, the first and second routes may be different. In various embodiments, the apparatus includes a transmitter that transmits information that indicates whether the remote unit will apply the network traffic steering data.
Apparatus and method for allocating data flows based on indication of selection criteria
An apparatus and method for allocating a data flow based on selection criteria including receiving at least one policy including at least one indication for selecting an access from two or more of available accesses; determining a selection criterion based on the data flow; and selecting the access based on the determined selection criterion and the at least one indication. In one example, the selection criterion is one of the following: a bandwidth requirement for the data flow, an application generating the data flow, a protocol used to carry the data flow, a file size, an application name/ID, a role ID, or a throughput of the data flow. In one example, the policy is a management object (MO) received from an Access Network Discovery and Selection Function (ANDSF) module and the selected access is for a wireless local area network (WLAN), a LTE network or for a 3GPP service.
System and method for selecting a content delivery network
A system and method for selecting a data delivery network. A determination is made of user information associated with a communication from a user. A determination is made of performance information for multiple data delivery networks. The data delivery network is selected for the communication from the multiple data delivery networks.
Methods and apparatus for managing communications network loading
There is provided a method comprising estimating bit rate information for first traffic if said first traffic were to be routed between a user equipment which is attached to a first network and a network access point of a second network and determining if said first traffic is to be routed between said user equipment and said network access point in dependence on said estimated bit rate information.
Analytics triggered subscriber policies
In general, techniques are described for providing a continuous feedback system that dynamically updates data collection criteria and subscriber policies based on aggregated subscriber-specific and network usage data. For example, a method includes applying one or more subscriber specific policy and charging control (PCC) rules to network traffic to collect network traffic data for a plurality of subscribers, aggregating the network traffic data, and determining, based on the aggregated traffic data, whether subscriber independent data collection criteria need to be updated. The method may also include, responsive to determining that the data collection criteria need to be updated: updating the data collection criteria, translating the updated data collection criteria from updated subscriber independent data collection criteria into updated subscriber specific PCC rules, and applying the updated subscriber specific policy and charging control rules to additional network traffic to collect additional network traffic data.

Peer to peer networking and sharing systems and methods
An embodiment includes peer-to-peer (P2P) pairing protocols that mutually authenticate both end points and do not rely upon a backend server or a central certificate provisioning server. An embodiment provides a persistent control path for sending inter-peer control information (e.g., synchronization messages). Another inter-peer path includes an “on-demand” data path enabled when a unit determines content is ready for sharing. After the content is shared, the data path may be deconstructed, which saves resources on both sides and makes the framework more scalable. Also, embodiments include graphical user avatars to whereby a first peer shares content with a second peer by dragging content over the avatar.
DATA PACKET PROCESSING SYSTEM ON A CHIP
An on-chip data packet processing method and corresponding integrated circuit, wherein data packets are received at an ingress port and processed with an on-chip wire-speed engine. The processing comprises adding metadata to the data packets, forwarding the processed data to an on-chip QoS unit, altering the metadata of the data packets and/or providing further metadata to the data packets. The data packets are forwarded from the on-chip QoS unit to an on-chip data consumer. If the data consumer is a processing unit the data packets are processed in a first processing step, redirected from the processing unit to the QoS unit and the step of forwarding the data packets to an on-chip data consumer is repeated.
