Data-modulated pilots for phase and gain detectors

Methods, systems, and devices are described for mitigating an unwanted increase in a coding rate of a wireless communication signal. A plurality of symbols including a transmitted codeword is received. The plurality of symbols including a first group of data symbols with a first modulation and coding scheme and a second group of data modulated pilot symbols with a second modulation and coding scheme. Applicable demodulation schemes are adaptively switched for each group of the plurality of symbols. The second group of data modulated pilot symbols are used in lieu of pilot symbols. The second modulation and coding scheme is a more reliable modulation and coding scheme than the first modulation and coding scheme.

System and method for enhancing reception in wireless communication systems

A method, an apparatus and a computer program product for enhancing reception of signals in a wireless communication system. A signal containing a frame including a plurality of symbols is received on an uplink communication channel. An angular position of at least one symbol in the plurality of symbols in a constellation of symbols is detected. The plurality of symbols include equalized symbols. An angular difference corresponding a phase error between the detected angular position of the symbol and an expected reference angular position in the constellation of symbols corresponding to an expected reference symbol corresponding to the received frame is determined. Using the determined phase error, a phase of the symbol is compensated.

Phase calibration method and device

A phase calibration method includes: segmenting a received measurement sequence according to a preset rule; respectively determining a phase calibration factor of each of segmented measurement sequences, wherein the each of the segmented measurement sequences respectively corresponds to a segmented phase; and when performing a phase calibration on a sequence to be verified, according to a matching relation between a phase of the sequence to be verified and the each of the segmented phases, using the phase calibration factor corresponding to a matched segmented phase to perform the phase calibration on the sequence to be verified. The embodiments of the phase calibration method and the device are equivalent to dividing a non-linear measurement sequence into several approximately linear measurement sequences, and then calibrating each of the several approximately linear measurement sequences using a corresponding phase calibration factor respectively.

ADJUSTING RECEIVER FREQUENCY TO COMPENSATE FOR FREQUENCY OFFSET DURING A SOUNDING SEQUENCE USED FOR FRACTIONAL TIME DETERMINATION

A mixer in a receiver converts a sounding sequence of alternating ones and zeros to an intermediate frequency signal. A digital mixer converts the intermediate frequency signal to a baseband signal that contains a positive tone and a negative tone. A frequency offset correction circuit generates frequency offset corrections based on frequency offset estimates of the frequency offset between a transmitter of the sounding sequence and the receiver. A frequency adjustment circuit adjusts a frequency of the mixer or the digital mixer to thereby center the positive tone and the negative tone around DC. DFT circuits perform single bin DFTs respectively centered on the positive and negative tones. Phases of the positive and negative tones are calculated based on outputs of the DFT circuits and the phases are used to determine fractional time value associated with a distance measurement between the transmitter and receiver.
