A control circuit, comprising a processor, and a computer readable medium is described. The computer readable medium stores logic that causes the processor to analyze performance data of a link carrying data encoded in a first modulation format with a degradation prediction algorithm to determine a predicted level of degradation of the link. The processor provides first control signals to a transmitter block, and second control signals to a receiver block based upon the predicted level of degradation of the link over time. The first control signals cause the transmitter block to encode data to be transmitted over the link in a second modulation format. The second control signals cause the receiver block to decode data received from the link using the second modulation format. The first and second modulation formats conform to requirements of a same m-quadrature amplitude modulation protocol.

Constraint-based code block interleaver for data aided receivers

Methods related to wireless communication systems and the transmission of code blocks on such systems are provided. A wireless communication device interleaves a plurality of code block segments in time and frequency. The segments are interleaved by mapping a first code block segment of the plurality of code block segments to a first resource located at a first time and a first frequency, wherein the first code block segment is associated with a first code block, and mapping a second code block segment of the plurality of code block segments to a second resource based on at least one of the first time or the first frequency of the first resource and a code block proximity parameter, wherein the second code block segment is associated with a second code block different from the first code block. The device then transmits the plurality of interleaved code block segments. Other features are also claimed and described.

Systems and methods include receiving blocks of data that has been Forward Error Correction (FEC) encoded via Open Forward Error Correction (OFEC) adaptation; decoding the blocks of data; processing Cyclic Redundancy Check (CRC) data that is included in padding data required in the OFEC adaptation, wherein the padding data is distributed across N rows of payload data; and determining a location of any errors in the payload data based on the processed CRC data. The OFEC adaptation is for mapping the blocks of data into any of a FlexO-x frame structure, a ZR frame structure, and variants thereof, and the location of any errors can be used for error marking.

Aspects of the present application provide methods and devices for time domain implementation of a single carrier waveform such as single carrier quadrature amplitude modulation (QAM) DFT-s-OFDM and single carrier Offset QAM (OQAM). A time domain implementation allows flexible symbol lengths, lower implementation complexity as a large IDFT operation is not required in the time domain and support for variable cyclic prefix (CP) length. An OQAM implementation utilizes a pre-processing step to convert a K complex QAM symbol sequence into a 2K OQAM symbol sequence and generates a sequence for transmission in the time domain as opposed to the frequency domain.
