TECHNOLOGIES FOR ANNOTATING PROCESS AND USER INFORMATION FOR NETWORK FLOWS

Systems, methods, and computer-readable media for annotating process and user information for network flows. In some embodiments, a capturing agent, executing on a first device in a network, can monitor a network flow associated with the first device. The first device can be, for example, a virtual machine, a hypervisor, a server, or a network device. Next, the capturing agent can generate a control flow based on the network flow. The control flow may include metadata that describes the network flow. The capturing agent can then determine which process executing on the first device is associated with the network flow and label the control flow with this information. Finally, the capturing agent can transmit the labeled control flow to a second device, such as a collector, in the network.

A method is disclosed for the collection of performance metrics by establishing service operations administration and maintenance (OAM) sessions between an actuator and a plurality of reflectors in a communication network. Test packets from an actuator simultaneously reach a plurality of reflectors along a test path. Each single test packet results into a plurality of test results, one per reflector, with quasi-synchronous performance metrics to sectionalize a network and more efficiently isolate fault or performance problems without the need for additional test packets to isolate the issue. Another method is disclosed wherein an actuator generates and transmits a plurality of simultaneous test packets, one per NID device, resulting into a plurality of test results, one per reflector, with quasi-synchronous performance metrics to sectionalize a network and more efficiently isolate fault or performance problems without the need for additional test packets to isolate the issue.

An information terminal sequentially transmits one or more packets to an information distribution server, receives acknowledgments for the transmitted packets from the information distribution server, and records a round trip time and occurrence of packet loss for each of the transmitted packets. Among one or more packet sequences, the information terminal counts the number of packet sequences which are such that the number of packet losses included in each of the packet sequences and an increase state of the round trip time for packets included in the packet sequence satisfy respective predetermined conditions. Each of the one or more packet sequences has multiple continuous packets including one or more packets, for which packet loss is recorded among the transmitted packets, at the top. The information terminal calculates a packet loss ratio on the basis of the counted number and the number of transmitted packets.

Adaptive management of a media buffer

Embodiments disclosed herein provide systems, methods, and computer readable media that perform adaptive management of a media buffer. In a particular embodiment, a method provides receiving packets representing a media stream into the adaptive media buffer, wherein the media stream comprises a sequence of media segments structured into segment layers, and detecting loss of one or more of the packets representing one of the media segments. The method further provides estimating a round trip delay for packets between the adaptive media buffer and a sender of the media stream and determining a current depth of the media segments within the adaptive media buffer. In response to detecting the packet loss, the method provides discarding media segments within the adaptive media buffer based on the round trip delay, the current depth, and a layer of the segment layers into which each of the one or more media segments is included.

Detection of a network issue with a single device

Methods and systems are provided for detecting network device configurations using a single device. The methods and system include establishing a first connection to a network device using a first device identifier. Upon detecting that a condition has been satisfied; a second connection to the network device can be established. A data packet can be transmitted over one of the first connection or the second connection, the data packet being addressed to the network address associated with the other connection. Upon detecting whether the data packet is received over the other connection, an error message can be transmitted when the data packet is not received over the other connection.

SYSTEM AND METHOD OF ASSIGNING REPUTATION SCORES TO HOSTS

A method provides for receiving network traffic from a host having a host IP address and operating in a data center, and analyzing a malware tracker for IP addresses of hosts having been infected by a malware to yield an analysis. When the analysis indicates that the host IP address has been used to communicate with an external host infected by the malware to yield an indication, the method includes assigning a reputation score, based on the indication, to the host. The method can further include applying a conditional policy associated with using the host based on the reputation score. The reputation score can include a reduced reputation score from a previous reputation score for the host.

Method and apparatus for adaptive streaming based on hybrid TCP and UDP in multiple narrowband wireless communication environment

An apparatus for adaptive streaming in multiple narrowband wireless communication environment comprises a communication unit configured to perform multi-communication with a server using a TCP and an UDP, a network monitor unit configured to collect state information on each of a plurality of narrowband networks, and a parameter control unit configured to: based on the collected state information on each of the plurality of narrowband networks, select a quality of video segment to be requested and one of the TCP protocol and the UDP protocol to be used in each of the plurality of narrowband networks, or determine a data size of redundant data for data loss restoration for each of the plurality of narrowband networks.

ENABLING A ROUND-TRIP PACKET LOSS MEASUREMENT IN A PACKET-SWITCHED COMMUNICATION NETWORK

A method for enabling a round-trip packet loss measurement between two nodes of a packet-switched communication network exchanging packets comprising a packet loss field settable to an idle value or one or more measurement values. The first node transmits to the second node first packets having the packet loss field set to a measurement value. Upon reception of each first packet, the second node transmits back to the first node a respective second packet having the packet loss field set to a measurement value. Upon reception of each second packet, the first node transmits back to the second node a respective third packet having the packet loss field set to a measurement value. A measurement point placed between the two nodes may count the number of first packets and the number of third packets and use them to provide a round-trip packet loss measurement.

Systems and methods for optimal channel selection

Embodiments described herein provide an optimal communication channel recommendation engine by assessing whether the environment the customer is situated in is conducive to the channel selected by the customer. Specifically, the optimal channel recommendation engine obtains data artifacts indicative of ambient noise, motion, customer sentiment, network quality, customer focus, and/or the like to assess quality of the environment and recommend an optimal channel for the communication between the customer and the call agent. With the recommendation to switch to a different channel, the client component resumes communication with the new channel and retains the context of the interaction.

Device for and Method of Radio Access Technology Selection Among Multiple Rdio Access Technologies

Systems and methods of providing a V2X communications are generally described. A geographically-limited, operator-independent mapping table is used that maps between groups of V2X applications each associated with a different application category and a different RAT preferred for the V2X application category. Each grouping is based on fulfillment of one or more KP Is for the associated V2X application category. Multiple RA Ts are prioritized if able to fulfill the KP Is. The mapping table is modified based on the RATs supported by the V2X UE. Carrier aggregation is used when simultaneous transmission on different RATs is desired.
