20190379611 · 2019-12-12 ·

A method and system for transferring user equipment (UE) in a mobile communication system are disclosed. According to the method, a source core (CN) network determines to transfer a UE that it serves and sends a transfer instruction carrying UE transfer restriction information to the UE; an access network receives a transfer request that is sent by the UE according to the restriction information carried in the transfer instruction; the access network selects a target CN entity that is different from the source CN entity for the UE; and the UE is transferred to the target CN entity. The method and system provided by the disclosure are applicable to user transferring between CN entities in any communication network. The transferring is initiated by a network side entity, and a more preferable CN entity is selected for the UE to provide a better service.

Network connection hand-off and hand-back

Some embodiments provide a director agent, a server agent, and a specialized hand-off protocol for improving scalability and resource usage within a server farm. A first network connection is established between a client and the director agent in order to receive a content request from the client from which to select a server from a set of servers that is responsible for hosting the requested content. A second network connection is established between the server agent that is associated with the selected server and a protocol stack of the selected server. The first network connection is handed-off to the server agent using the specialized hand-off protocol. The server agent performs network connection state parameter transformations between the two connections to create a network connection through which content can be passed from the selected server to the client without passing through the director.

A telecommunications system is operable to provide a facility for a communications session to a mobile node using an internet protocol. When changing affiliation from one of a first and second packet data network to the other of the first and second packet data network, a mobile node is operable to generate a service level identifier representing a requested priority to be afforded to the internet packets communicated to and from the mobile node with respect to other internet packets communicated to and from other nodes. The mobile node is also operable to generate a binding update internet packet providing a care of address of the mobile and an indication of the service level identifier in the binding update internet packet and to communicate the binding update internet data packets to a home agent of the mobile node. The home agent is operable in response to the binding update to identify the service level identifier and to communicate the internet packets in accordance with the requested priority represented by the service level identifier. The telecommunications system can prioritise the transmission of internet packets according to a priority requested by the mobile node represented by the service level identifier thus reducing a likelihood that mobile node will experience delays or interruptions in the transmission of data.

There is provided an information processing apparatus that readily supports to provide hardware resources for implementing ICT education in the field of education. The information processing apparatus includes a device information receiver that receives, via a network, device information for identifying a device connected to a portable terminal, an education application selector that selects, based on the device information, an education application to be provided to the device, and an education application provider that provides the education application to the device via the network and the portable terminal.

Transport Protocol Server Relocation
20190182175 · 2019-06-13 ·

A system and method for server relocation in a packet data network. A transport protocol session is established between a client 20 and server 14_1 to transfer content from the server to the client in data packets. As well as transmitting data packets to the client, the server additionally transmits declarative information as signaling packets. The declarative information includes an identifier of the content being transmitted in the ongoing session. This allows other servers 14_2 with the same content to identify the existence of the session and gives them the opportunity to volunteer to take over the session, for example if they can see that the client is now closer to them than the server currently serving the content. The two servers can then coordinate transfer of the session, whereafter the session continues with the second server transmitting content to the client.

An application relocation method includes: a source edge enabler server (EES) sends a first message to a target EES, where the first message is used to request to relocate an application of a terminal apparatus, and the first message includes an identifier of the terminal apparatus and an identifier of the application; and the source EES receives a second message from the target EES, where the second message is a response message of the first message, and the second message is used to indicate whether a relocation of the application of the terminal apparatus is allowed.

Efficiency of routing traffic to an edge compute server at the far edge of a cellular network

A method for improving efficiency of routing edge compute traffic from a user equipment (UE) to an edge compute server at a far edge of a cellular network includes provisioning a near edge control unit (CU) and a near edge user plane function (UPF) at a near edge of the cellular network. The method also includes provisioning a far edge CU, a far edge UPF, and an edge compute workload at the far edge. The method also includes receiving UE traffic at one or more distributed units located at the far edge. The UE traffic includes the edge compute traffic and non-edge compute traffic. The method also includes identifying the edge compute traffic among the UE traffic, routing the edge compute traffic to the edge compute workload at the far edge, and routing the non-edge compute traffic to the near edge UPF at the near edge.
