A portable computing device is disclosed. The portable computing device can take many forms such as a laptop computer, a tablet computer, and so on. The portable computing device can include at least a single piece housing. The single piece housing including a plurality of steps. The plurality of mounting steps are formed by at least removing a preselected amount of housing material at predetermined locations on the interior surface. At least some of the mounting steps are used to mount at least some of the plurality of internal operating components housing.
Puzzle-style modular electronic devices
A puzzle-style modular electronic device is provided. The puzzle-style modular electronic device is activated based on detecting an interconnection of a plurality of block modules and determining whether the interconnection of the plurality of block modules matches an assembly orientation. Note that each of the plurality of block modules includes a processor, a memory, and at least one connection point through which the interconnection is established and that the interconnection of the plurality of block modules collectively forms the modular electronic device. Further, the puzzle-style modular electronic device authenticates a set of operations of the modular electronic device in response to the determining that the interconnection of the plurality of block modules matches the assembly orientation.
Protective case for portable electronic device
A case for protecting a portable electronic device includes a first member, a second member, and a flexible hinge member. The first member is removably attachable to a first portion of the portable electronic device for covering an outer surface of the first portion of the portable electronic device while not covering a display screen area of the portable electronic device. The second member of the case is removably attachable to a second portion of the portable electronic device for covering the outer surface of the second portion of the portable electronic device while not covering the display. The flexible hinge member is in proximity to a hinging portion of the portable electronic device when the case is attached. The flexible hinge member permits articulation of the portable electronic device when the case is attached to the portable electronic device due to flexing of a flexible material.
Beam bar snap in an electronic device
This is directed to a hook and receiving element combination for securing components forming the shell of an electronic device. The receiving element can include a beam connected to the outer shell component and operative to deflect as the hook element approaches the receiving element. To limit deflections of the outer shell component, the beam can be restrained at opposing ends in directions perpendicular to the beam length, but free to slide along the beam axis. In some embodiments, the receiving element can include a lip for guiding the deflection of the beam as the beam contacts the hook element. In particular, the lip can ensure that the beam deflects at an angle relative to the hook element motion such that a smaller hook element motion is required to engage the beam.
Self-clamping shell members not requiring external holding pressure and electronic device
A two-parts shell or housing assembly not requiring a pressure jig for assembly includes an upper shell and a lower shell. The upper shell includes a first surface and a second surface. Hooks are disposed on edges of the second surface. The lower shell includes an inner bottom surface and a first blocking surface. A stepped portion is formed at the connection portion between the inner bottom surface and the first blocking surface. The stepped portion includes a first side and a second side. The upper shell is disposed on the second side. The first side defines slots corresponding to the hooks. A receiving space is formed by the hook, the stepped portion, and the second side for receiving adhesive. An electronic device is also provided.

Provided is a portable terminal cover. The portable terminal cover includes a plurality of transparent side surfaces configured to cover a plurality of side surface display parts of a portable terminal and a front surface configured to cover a top surface display part of the portable terminal and connected to at least one side surface of the side surfaces and thereby to confirm an image provided on the side surface display parts while protecting the side surface display parts of the portable terminal.

A case for protecting a portable electronic device includes a cushion member formed from a single piece of elastomeric material and having a first portion, a second portion, and a hinge portion connecting the first portion to the second portion permitting articulation of the installed portable electronic device. The case also includes a first rigid shell member removably attachable to the portable electronic device over the first portion of the cushion member, wherein the cushion member extends substantially between the first rigid shell member and the installed portable electronic device. The case also includes a second rigid shell member removably attachable to the portable electronic device over the second portion of the cushion member, wherein the cushion member extends substantially between the second rigid shell member and the installed portable electronic device.
