The accessory station is configured to form between a surface of the protective housing member and a surface of at least one accessory item of the handheld electronic device. The protective housing member includes first and second housing parts. At least one sealing element positioned between the first and second housing parts provides a waterproof seal to protect the components of the waterproof storage system.

A multipurpose accessory and storage system for an electronic device includes a housing member attaching to the electronic device and a charging station structured on the housing member to charge, arrest and dispense an accessory item. The accessory item includes a protective membrane housing a logic board, a power component, an image sensor, a transmitter configured to transfer a signal or data to the electronic device or the housing member and a software program stored in the logic board. The transmitter establishes a pairing or electronic connection between the electronic device or the housing member and the accessory item. The pairing or electronic connection enables content captured by the image sensor to be relayed to the electronic device to permit a user to view the content on the display of the electronic device and/or to control components and features of the accessory item via the electronic device.

A method for controlling earphone switching, an earphone, and an earphone system are provided. The method includes the following. A first earphone determines whether the first earphone is switched to a non-wearing state from a wearing state. The first earphone is coupled with a second earphone and an electronic device and serves as a master earphone, and the second earphone serves as a slave earphone. When the first earphone is determined to be switched to the non-wearing state from the wearing state, the first earphone switches the first earphone to serve as the slave earphone and the first earphone switches the second earphone to serve as the master earphone. Switching between master and slave earphones can be achieved according to changes between the wearing state and the non-wearing state of the master earphone, such that user experience can be improved.

The charging area is configured to charge the accessory item of the handheld electronic device. The charging area is powered by at last one power component of the protective housing member or at least one power component of the handheld electronic device. An apparatus includes a first interface for connecting to a personal computer, a second interface for connecting to a communications device, a third interface for connecting to a headset, a fourth interface for connecting to a speaker, and a processor in control of each of the interfaces.
