Aspects of the present invention confirm that a phone number is associated with a particular phone. The phone number is confirmed to be associated with the phone by causing the phone to transmit a verification message addressed to that phone number. Receipt by the phone of the verification message confirms that the number is associated with that phone. Another aspect of the invention concerns updating the status of phones in a status list of phone numbers on a phone by sending the status list and updated status of the phone to a network server. The server monitors the status of at least one of the phones in the status list and transmits that status to the phone, which updated status is then displayed in a display area of the phone.

[Object] To provide a communication terminal device capable of performing an image registration correlating with address book information with an easy operation. [Constitution] A mobile phone includes: a camera module 24 for shooting a subject; a memory 105 for storing address book information including telephone numbers; a numeric key portion 11 for an input; and a CPU 100 for extracting the address book information relating to information input by the numeric key portion 11 from the memory 105 and for storing an image shot by the camera module 24 by correlating the image with the address book information in the memory 105 at the same time. When the subject is shot by the camera module 24 after the information is input by the numeric key portion 11, the CPU 100 correlates the image with the extracted address book information and stores them in the memory 105.

Method and apparatus for quick selection from ordered list

Techniques for quick selection from an ordered list include dividing all items in the ordered list into current groups. Each current group includes a different range of the items. A corresponding plurality of icons for the plurality of current groups is presented substantively simultaneously on a display screen. One corresponding icon for each current group indicates a range of items included in the current group. In response to receiving input that indicates a particular icon corresponding to a particular group of the plurality of current groups, all items included in the particular group are divided into a plurality of next current groups. Each next current group includes a different range of the items included in the particular group. The next current group replaces the previous current group; thus, a corresponding plurality of icons for the plurality of next current groups is presented substantively simultaneously on the display screen.
