Virtual subscriber identity module for mobile communication device
A system includes a subscriber identity module (SIM) application; a physical SIM driver configured to be coupled to a physical SIM card; a simulated SIM driver; a control switch that selectively couples the SIM application to the physical SIM driver or the simulated SIM driver, wherein the SIM application, when coupled to the physical SIM driver, is configured to read and write on the physical SIM card; and a SIM simulator in communication with the control switch and the simulated SIM driver, wherein the SIM simulator is configured to control the selective coupling of the control switch, and is configured to receive at least one request comprising an authentication request from the simulated SIM driver and transmit at least one response comprising an authentication response to the simulated SIM driver.
Method and system for embedding security in a mobile communications device
Methods and systems are provided that provide a portable, cryptographic hardware-software device allowing balancing of the needed heightened security while maintaining the modified communication device's original features and value. The system comprises a single chip comprising a self-contained security boundary and cryptographic processing, and is enabled to quickly and easily connect to and modify an existing, commercial, off the shelf mobile communication device. The systems may be enabled to modify the existing device by being contained in hardware, for example the battery of a smart phone. Then, the system may be connected to the existing device's interface, for example via a “micro-USB” or other suitable connection, and subsequently provide cryptographic functionality to the existing device.
Methods and apparatus for providing access to emergency service providers
A method and apparatus of communication via a hand held device that includes receiving an indication at the device to initiate an emergency call via a wireless network; determining whether the device is configured with a subscriber identity module (SIM) card, wherein the SIM card includes a plurality of numbers; and sequentially calling the plurality of numbers stored on the SIM card based on the determination that the device is configured with the SIM card. Further, the method and apparatus include detecting an emergency indication; connecting to a wireless network; and establishing a communication with one or more emergency service providers based at least in part on detecting the emergency indication, wherein the communication is established via the wireless network.

CHEMICALLY TIME-LIMITED USE MOBILE COMMUNICATIONS DEVICES AND METHODS FOR PROVIDING COMMUNICATIONS SERVICES USING THE SAME
A subscriber identity module (SIM) card includes a housing, a printed circuit board contained within the housing, and a plurality of metallic contact pads on a surface of the printed circuit board. At least one contact pad of the plurality of metallic contact pads comprises an enclosed, interior portion. The SIM card further includes a corrosive chemical agent contained within the interior portion. The corrosive chemical agent reacts chemically with the at least one metallic contact pad, in the presence of oxygen, to cause the at least one metallic contact pad to corrode over a period of time.

INFORMATION-PROCESSING DEVICE AND COMMUNICATION SYSTEM
An in-vehicle mobile station is presented. When a user purchases vehicle including in-vehicle mobile station, s/he operates his/her communication device and in-vehicle mobile station to write a profile in a SIM of in-vehicle mobile station and to activate the SIM. Specifically, the user initially operates communication device to register a profile to be written in the SIM of in-vehicle mobile station, in contract information management device. Subsequently, the user operates in-vehicle mobile station to write the profile registered in contract information management device, in in-vehicle mobile station, and to activate the mobile station.
