A broadband provisioning system configured for bulk provisioning of communications services is provided. The system includes an order manager that includes machine executable instructions stored on machine readable media, the instructions for: receiving a request to provision a plurality of telephone numbers with communications services; creating details for the request and setting an initial state for the request; and upon commencement of processing of the request, updating the state of the request to indicate ongoing processing, provisioning each telephone number in the request by associating resources therewith, and updating a status for each telephone number provisioned; and upon completion of processing, changing the state of the request to indicate completion.

OPTIMISED BROADBAND LINE TESTING

This invention relates to a method of managing a digital subscriber line, where an optimum point at which to trigger a line test on the DSL line is determined. The invention continuously measures the signal to noise (SNR) margin on the DSL line, and compares the measurements to predetermined conditions based on SNR margin characteristics associated with a population of good lines. Once the SNR margin measurements fail to meet the predetermined conditions, an electrical line test is triggered. Thus, monitoring is done in the DSL domain, but the line test triggered is in the electrical domain. In an improved method, moisture level sensors provide a measure of the atmospheric moisture levels experienced by the line. If the SNR margin measurements fail to meet the predetermined conditions, and in addition there is a correlation with atmospheric moisture levels, then a line test is triggered on the line. This improvement picks up faults associated with wet joints that are generally intermittent in nature, and otherwise difficult to identify and properly test.

Use Based Scalable Instant Voice Communication

Systems and methods are provided for limiting the number of persistent voice connections for a user and for configuring dynamic connections to appear from the user's perspective as if they were persistent connections. When the user initiates a call over a dynamic connection the user's voice is stored until the connection is established at which time the user's voice will continue to be stored and will also be transmitted over the connection until the voice being stored and the voice being transmitted become the same.

METHOD FOR AUTOMATICALLY REMOVING CROSSTALK AND AN APPARATUS THEREOF
20170201292 · 2017-07-13 ·

The present invention discloses a method and an apparatus to automatically remove crosstalk, which can automatically determine and set the start frequency in the G.fast system without unnecessary manual operation to automatically remove crosstalk interference between VDSL and G.fast. The present invention allows the time required to complete the setting of the start frequency in the G.fast system corresponding to each port of a unit of DPU/DSLAM equipment and the related work therefor to be reduced to less than 2 minutes. Therefore, the installation time is greatly reduced, human errors are also reduced, and the installation can be done correctly by ordinary technicians, which is advantageous to the promotion of G.fast systems.

SYSTEMS, METHODS, AND APPARATUSES FOR IDENTIFYING CABLE-LEVEL FAULTS IN A COPPER PLANT OF A DSL SYSTEM
20170180549 · 2017-06-22 ·

In accordance with embodiments disclosed herein, there are provided apparatus, systems, and methods for identifying cable-level faults in a copper plant of a DSL system. For example, such means may include identifying a group of Digital Subscriber Lines (DSL lines) within a common cable; determining a baseline of physical line characteristics for each of the DSL lines in the group; collecting current physical line characteristics for each of the DSL lines in the group; determining a physical line characteristics delta for each of the DSL lines in the group by comparing the current physical line characteristics to the baseline of physical line characteristics for each of the respective DSL lines; and indicating a defect in the common cable based on a quantity of the DSL lines in the group for which the respective DSL line's physical line characteristics delta exceeds a threshold. Other related embodiments are disclosed.

Method and apparatus for fast and accurate acquisition of crosstalk coefficients

In accordance with an embodiment, the method includes inserting a plurality of crosstalk probing signals within the wired multi-carrier communication system for probing the crosstalk from respective ones of the plurality of disturber lines into the victim line, carrying out crosstalk measurements over the victim line, and estimating the crosstalk coefficients from the crosstalk measurements. The method further includes organizing the plurality of disturber lines into subsets of disturber lines, and individually assigning disjoint groups of carriers to the respective subsets of disturber lines. The insertion of the plurality of crosstalk probing signals is confined within the respectively assigned groups of carriers. The subsets of disturber lines and/or the groups of carriers used for a second or subsequent iteration are tailored based on crosstalk characteristics observed for the respective disturber lines during a pervious iteration.

Cable damage detection

A system for monitoring connection status of a cable in a network comprising a detector operationally connected to the cable, a metal line test module, and a processor for receiving from the detector one or more connection status reports about connection of the cable to a network node, and configured to cause, upon a connection status report threshold being reached, a test of the cable by the metal line test module to confirm the connection status of the cable. Related apparatus and methods are also disclosed.

Single ended line test methods for time duplex division devices

The present disclosure relates to a Time Duplex Division (TDD) modem and a method in such a modem for making Single Ended Line Test (SELT) measurements. The device comprises a transmitter and a receiver and it has a normal mode of TDD communication. In these devices, Time Domain Reflectometry (TDR) is used as line measurement. It has a number of drawbacks, and for overcoming said drawbacks, Frequency Domain Reflectometry (FDR) measurement techniques adapted for TDD devices are suggested.
