A method, system, computer program product, and a device for testing are provided. In some implementations, a method includes the steps of (i) conducting a line test on a line of a line card that is not connected to a subscriber line; (ii) comparing the result of the test with a predetermined result; and (iii) determining a defect of the test hardware if the result deviates from the predetermined result. Furthermore, a device and a communication system comprising said device are suggested.

Method and apparatus for reformatting and retiming digital telecommunications data for reliable retransmission via USB

A method for retiming digital telecommunications data received by a digital logger from a plurality of T-carrier type telephone lines respectively having differing clock sources ensures efficient transmission of received digital audio data to a host computer via a Universal Serial Bus (USB) interface. Also the digital logger includes volatile memory for temporarily storing digital audio data received from the plurality of T-carrier type telephone lines for: 1. ensuring that the host computer receives digital audio data correctly via the USB interface; 2. buffering the digital audio data within the digital logger during interruptions in transmission of digital audio data from the digital logger via the USB interface; and 3. reducing audible latency of speech communications.

Method and apparatus for sending SELT measurement signal, and control device

Embodiments of the present invention relate to a method and an apparatus for sending a single-ended loop testing SELT measurement signal, and a control device. The method for sending a SELT measurement signal includes: aligning a synchronization symbol of a digital subscriber line on which a SELT diagnosis needs to be performed with a synchronization symbol of at least one DSL line for data transmission, where the synchronization symbol of the digital subscriber line on which a SELT diagnosis needs to be performed and the synchronization symbol of the at least one digital subscriber line for data transmission are uplink or downlink synchronization symbols; and carrying a SELT measurement signal over the aligned synchronization symbol of the DSL line on which a SELT diagnosis needs to be performed, where the SELT measurement signal is used to detect transmission quality or a line fault of the DSL line.

DYNAMIC LINE MANAGEMENT SYSTEM
20170111216 · 2017-04-20 ·

A method and Dynamic Line Management, DLM, system for controlling Digital Line Subscriber, DSL, connections, comprising applying a first line profile to a DSL connection, the first line profile specifying a first virtual noise template for the DSL connection, wherein the first virtual noise template specifies a first set of frequency dependent virtual noise levels for the DSL connection; configuring a connection parameter (such as the data rate) of the DSL connection based on the first set of frequency dependent virtual noise levels; applying a second line profile to the DSL transceiver unit, the second line profile specifying a second virtual noise template for the DSL connection, wherein the second virtual noise template specifies a second set of frequency dependent virtual noise levels for the DSL connection; and reconfiguring the connection parameter for the DSL connection based on the second set of frequency dependent virtual noise levels.

Dynamic rate adaptation methods in a vectored G.fast system

Various examples of mechanisms, systems, methods, techniques and devices for dynamic rate adaptation in a vectored G.fast (G.9701) system are described. A first communication device may perform estimation of a residual noise to derive signal-to-noise ratio (SNR) loss for each carrier of one or more carriers with respect to a transmitting port of the first communication device. The residual noise may be an increased noise expected to be experienced by a second communication device when one or more other ports in a vectored group of a plurality of ports of the first communication device are switched off. The first communication device may adapt to the residual noise during time slots of one or more downstream symbol positions where the one or more other ports in the vectored group are switched off by dynamically changing bit-loading.

Easy DSL signal detector

Novel tools and techniques are provided for implementing easy digital subscriber line (DSL) signal detection. In various embodiments, after a connector of a signal detector has been inserted into a network service port, a processor of the signal detector may determine whether a pilot tone is present on at least one signal wire communicatively coupled to the network service port, the pilot tone being indicative of network service being ready for provision via the at least one signal wire. If so, the processor of the signal detector may cause a display device to indicate to a user that the network service port is ready to provide the network service. A modem can then be installed by connecting with the network service port. The connector, the processor, and the display device are integrated within a single, compact, handheld form factor of the signal detector.
