11381410 · 2022-07-05 · ·

A method includes identifying a plurality of communication devices assigned to a same participant to a conference call, evaluating a quality-of-service for each of the plurality of communication devices assigned to the same participant to the conference call and designating one of the plurality of communication devices as a principal communication device of the plurality of communication devices assigned to the same participant to the conference call based on the evaluation of the quality-of-service of the plurality of communication devices. The method also includes automatically muting a remainder of the plurality of communication devices not designated as the principal communication device and reevaluating the quality-of-service for each of the plurality of communication devices.

Dynamically controlled aspect ratios for communication session video streams

The disclosed techniques improve user engagement and promote efficient use of computing resources by providing dynamically controlled aspect ratios for communication session renderings based on a physical orientation of a device. In some configurations, a system can select a first aspect ratio for individual video streams of a communication session when a device is in a first orientation, e.g., a portrait orientation. In addition, the system can select a second aspect ratio for the individual video streams when the device is in a second orientation, e.g., a landscape orientation. In some configurations, the first aspect ratio can be greater than the second aspect ratio, or the aspect ratios can be selected based on a target aspect ratio, which can be adjusted over time. By dynamically selecting an aspect ratio for individual stream renderings, screen space of a device can be optimized while the device is held in various physical orientations.

SYSTEMS AND METHODS FOR INTELLIGENT VOICE ACTIVATION FOR AUTO-MIXING

Embodiments allow for an auto-mixer to gate microphones on and off based on speech detection, without losing or discarding the speech received during the speech recognition period. An example method includes receiving and storing an input audio signal. The method also includes determining, based on a first segment of the input audio signal, that the input audio signal comprises speech, and determining a delay between the input audio signal and a corresponding output audio signal provided to a speaker. The method also includes reducing the delay, wherein reducing the delay comprises removing one or more segments of the stored input audio signal to create a time-compressed audio signal and providing the time-compressed audio signal as the corresponding output audio signal. The method also includes determining that the delay is less than a threshold duration, and responsively providing the input audio signal as the corresponding output audio signal.

Active speaker detection in electronic meetings for providing video from one device to plurality of other devices

Active speaker detection can include receiving speaker detection signals from a plurality of devices participating in an electronic meeting. Each speaker detection signal specifies a score indicating whether an active speaker is detected by a respective device of the plurality of devices that generates the speaker detection signal. Active speaker detection further can include determining, using a processor, a device of the plurality of devices that detects an active speaker based upon the speaker detection signals, wherein, in response to the determining, the method further comprises: providing video received from the determined device to the plurality of devices during the electronic meeting.

Information handling systems and methods for accurately identifying an active speaker in a communication session

The present disclosure provides various embodiments of methods for intelligent active speaker identification and information handling systems (IHSs) utilizing such methods. In general, the methods disclosed herein may be used to accurately identify an active speaker in a communication session with an application or an IHS, regardless of whether the active speaker is alone, in a group environment, or using someone else's system or login to participate in the communication session. The methods disclosed herein may use voice processing technology and one or more voice identification databases (VIDs) to identify the active speaker in a communication session. In some embodiments, the disclosed methods may display the identity of the active speaker to other users or participants in the same communication session. In other embodiments, the disclosed methods may dynamically switch between user profiles or accounts during the communication session based on the identity of the active speaker.

SYSTEMS AND METHODS FOR MODERATING NOISE LEVELS IN A COMMUNICATION SESSION

Systems and methods of the present disclosure include receiving, with a processor, audio from a first user device associated with a first user participating in the communication session; determining, by the processor, the audio comprises a level of noise; determining, by the processor, the level of noise exceeds a threshold level; and based on determining the level of noise exceeds the threshold level, one or more of generating, by the processor, a warning for the first user and generating, by the processor, a graphical illustration of the level of noise for the first user in the communication session.

METHOD AND APPARATUS FOR PROVIDING DATA PRODUCED IN A CONFERENCE
20210328822 · 2021-10-21 ·

A method for providing data produced in a conference, in which voice signals from participants in the conference are mixed in a conference bridge, can include provision of a time base that runs concurrently over the duration of the conference and setup of automatic identification of each participant when this participant speaks in the conference. The method also comprises capture of conversation contribution by each speaking participant to a conversation by the participants which is conducted during the conference as speaking time associated with each speaking participant at the conference, association of a time stamp with the speaking time, and production of statistical data by virtue of statistical evaluation of the speaking times of the participants.

Configuring output controls on a per-online identity and/or a per-online resource basis
11132419 · 2021-09-28 · ·

A process includes receiving, from a user identity, instructions for output characteristics including one or more of audio characteristics for rendering or capturing audio data or visual characteristics for rendering or capturing visual data. The process also includes determining, in response to the received instructions, output controls which effect the one or more of audio characteristics or visual characteristics, and associating the output controls with an online identity or resource. The process further includes storing the associated output controls and detecting an interaction with the online identity or resource. Moreover, the process includes accessing, in response to the detection of the interaction, the stored output controls, and enabling an effect, based on the output controls, of one or more of the audio characteristics or the visual characteristics with respect to interaction with the online identity or resource.

Grouping of hearing device users based on spatial sensor input

Systems and methods for controlling hearing devices are disclosed. Each hearing device is worn by a user, the users of the hearing devices having a conversation and the hearing devices being communicatively interconnected with each other for data exchange to form a hearing device system. A method includes acquiring a sound signal of each user with a microphone of the hearing device of the user; acquiring spatial information of each user; determining conversation patterns from the spatial information acquired for all users; determining conversation groups from the conversation patterns; outputting the sound signals from the users with a hearing device, such that sound signals from users of a conversation group that the user of the hearing device is a member of are output to the user and that sound signals from users of conversations groups of which the user is not a member are muted.
