An image forming apparatus including a plurality of processing units capable of performing different support processing for a user asking for support, and a remote support apparatus operated by an operator are connected via a communication path. The remote support apparatus transmits to the image forming apparatus a request to perform the support using the selected processing unit, or a request to switch the processing unit to a selected specific processing unit and a request to perform the support. The image forming apparatus allows the processing unit which follows the request to perform the support, to perform the support, and switches the processing unit according to the request to switch the processing unit to allow the switched processing unit to perform the support. Further, the image forming apparatus returns a result which should be returned, among results of the performed support, to the remote support apparatus.

The recording device includes an upstream transport roller pair capable of transporting a medium, a recording head configured to record an image by discharging ink at a predetermined timing on the medium transported downstream in a D1 direction by a predetermined transport amount by the upstream transport roller pair while moving in a Y-axis direction intersecting the D1 direction, an image capturing unit configured to read the image recorded on the medium by the recording head, and a control unit, wherein the control unit has a function of performing maintenance for a discharge failure of the ink, a correction of the transport amount, and a correction of the discharge timing of the ink based on the reading result of the image read by the image capturing unit.

An image forming device includes: an image forming unit that forms an image on a transfer medium; and a controller that controls multiple image readers capable of performing image reading for the same surface of the transfer medium, and acquires reading results from the image readers. The controller is capable of performing failure/no-failure determination for the image on the transfer medium based on the reading results, of switching image reading by the multiple image readers between reading by a first number of image readers and reading by a second number of image readers, the second number being smaller than the first number, and of enabling, while the second number of image readers perform reading, at least one of the other image readers to execute a maintenance operation for the at least one of the other image readers.

An image reading apparatus comprises a driving control part which detects a driving abnormality of a motor which drives a moving unit configured to be movable. Further, the image reading apparatus comprises a HP sensor an output of which changes in accordance with a position of the moving unit, and a CPU(A) which moves the moving unit by controlling operation of the motor based on the output change of the HP sensor. The CPU(A) determines that a driving abnormality occurs in a case where the driving control part detects an abnormality while moving the back surface glass unit. The CPU(A) determines that a position detection abnormality occurs if the output of the HP sensor does not change even when the moving unit is moved by a predetermined distance (ON reference moving amount and OFF reference moving amount) or more in a state where no abnormality is detected by the driving control part.

An original image is read as an aggregate of a plurality of pixels in which adjacent pixels have different colors (R, G, and B) in a main scanning direction and in a sub-scanning direction, and the read pixels of the respective colors are stored in a line memory in association with information on relative positions of the pixels with respect to another pixel. Then, the stored pixels are sorted so that pixels having the same color are adjacent to each other, and an abnormal pixel (dust) not present in the original image is detected based on the state of the sorted pixels. With this, the dust not present in the original image is detected without increasing the cost, and the dust is corrected without forming a conspicuous trace of correction.

An image processing apparatus includes: an input part that acquires image data for an image forming part to perform image formation; an image reader disposed in a stage after a conveyance path for a paper sheet on which an image is formed by the image forming part; and an inspection processor that conducts inspection by comparing an image to be inspected with an image read by the image reader, wherein, after a defect is detected in the image read by the image reader, when a defect at the same portion is again detected from an image read by the image reader from a paper sheet subjected to recovery reprinting at the image forming part, the inspection processor performs image correction on a defect at the portion in image data for recovery re-reprinting in which the image forming part performs image formation.

An image forming apparatus includes an image forming unit that forms an image on a transfer medium on the basis of image data, a feeder that feeds the transfer medium, and a control unit that manages image data and controls the image forming unit and the feeder. In a case where a base image and an overprint image are printed by the same image forming apparatus, the control unit can manage first image data of the base image and second image data of the overprint image by associating the data with each other, and when a jam of the transfer medium is detected during output of an overprint image, the control unit causes a transfer medium to which the base image is output by the image forming apparatus to be replenished for print instead of a jammed transfer medium removed by jam processing.

In accordance with an embodiment, an information processing apparatus comprises a storage device and a controller. The storage device stores system information relating to a system of the information processing apparatus. The controller executes a recovery processing on the storage device using recovery information stored in a storage medium for storing the recovery information necessary for recovering the system information.

An application apparatus includes a removal controller, a selection controller, and a recovery controller. The removal controller performs, in a case where a removal event occurs, control for storing an operation state of an active application as an original operation state and removing the application from an operation target. The selection controller performs, before causing the removed application to be recovered as the operation target, control for allowing a user to select a specific recovery method from among plural recovery methods including a method for reproducing the original operation state. The recovery controller performs, in accordance with the selected specific recovery method, control for causing an operation of the removed application to be recovered.

In a device management system, a terminal device receives a replacement instruction from a user when an acceptance condition is satisfied, and obtain first device identification information before the replacement, second device identification information after the replacement, first history information representing usage history of the first device from the first device without going through the server. The terminal device then transmits, to the server, a replacement request containing the first device identification information, the second identification information and the first history information. In a case where an allowance condition is satisfied, the server stores, in the storage of the server, second management information representing a relationship among the first management identification information associated with the first device identification information by the first management information, the first history information and the second device identification information.
