System And Method For Handling Variations In A Printed Mark

The embodiments herein relate to a method performed by a system (100) for handling variations in a mark (110) printed by a group (105) of industrial printers (101). The system (100) obtains images of the printed mark (110) printed by each of the printers (101) in the group (105). The system (100) creates a composite image from the obtained images. The printed marks (110) appear as a repeating pattern in the composite image. The system (100) compares the printed marks (110) in the composite image to each other or to another mark. The system (100) detects variations with a first resolution in the printed marks (110) in the composite image as a result of the comparison. The system (100) creates an augmented image in which the detected variations are augmented to a second resolution. The first resolution is lower than the second resolution.

A chart creation method to be used in a system including an image forming apparatus and a control apparatus, the control apparatus and a non-transitory computer-readable medium storing a chart creation control program are provided. The chart creation method includes: creating a print image of a chart; giving instructions to the image forming apparatus to print the chart and measure colors of the chart; obtaining measured color values of the color patches of the chart from the image forming apparatus; and rearranging the color patches of the chart so as to restrict spread of average color values of subgroups of color patches in the chart within a predetermined range. The chart creation method further includes: creating a print image of the color chart including the rearranged color patches, and giving instructions to the image forming apparatus to print the chart and measure colors of the chart.

COLOR CALIBRATION

Example implementations relate to color compensation. Some examples may print a calibration target background on a non-opaque media. The calibration target background may have a color that increases a dynamic range of a set of color measurements of a calibration target foreground. Some examples may print the calibration target foreground over the calibration target background. Additionally, some examples may measure an optical density of the calibration target foreground with a reflective sensor and may calibrate a printer based on the measured optical density.

An image forming apparatus includes a conversion unit configured to convert image data based on a conversion condition, an image forming unit configured to form an image on a sheet based on the converted image data, a detection unit configured to detect a pattern image on a transfer member, a reading unit configured to read a test image formed on a sheet, a controller configured to perform calibration based on a reading result of the reading unit, and a reception unit. In a case where the calibration is performed, the controller determines an image forming condition based on a result of detection by the detection unit before the test image is formed. In a case where the reception unit receives the discontinuation instruction, the controller changes the image forming condition to an image forming condition before the pattern image is formed.

METHOD FOR AUTOMATED GENERATION OF REFERENCE COLOR VALUES FOR COLOR CONTROL

A method for the automated generation of reference color values for color control purposes in a printing machine by using a computer includes, within a process of setting up the printing machine for a print job, initially carrying out printing operations and using a spectrophotometer to determine coloration values for every process color used in the print job. For every process color that is used in the print job, the computer automatically selects that coloration value of a process color that has the smallest deviation from a color set point that has been established at the beginning of the job and saves this coloration value as a new reference value for this process color.
