A content-aware digital media storage device includes a host device interface for exchanging digital information with a host device, a memory array for storing digital information received from the host device via the host interface, a peripheral module configured to communicate the digital information stored in the memory array to a receiver located remote from the digital media storage device, and a controller communicatively coupled to the host device interface, the memory array and the peripheral module and configured to interpret directory information associated with the digital information stored in the memory array so as to selectively access said digital information and communicate such accessed digital information to the peripheral module for transmission to the remote receiver. Digital images stored in the memory array may be transmitted to a remote host via a wireless network access point with which the peripheral module of the storage device is associated.

The invention includes a print terminal that prints input image data and outputs the input image data as a print image, and an image storage server that is connected to the print terminal via a public network, and that stores the image data sent from the print terminal and user identification information. The print terminal creates, out of the print image, user identification information based on photographing location information and photographing date/time information included as data in a user identification information image specified by the user. In a case where the print terminal receives a re-input of image data of the user identification information image, the print terminal resends user identification information to the image storage server. In a case where an image directory including the resent user identification information internally exists, the image storage server sends the image data in the image directory to the print terminal.

In an image forming apparatus, control is performed to enable, when a print function is selected with a user being authenticated, a printing operation of document data of a user registered in an authentication database and associated with the authenticated user, among document data stored in a storage unit, and to enable, when the print function is selected in a logged-in state without individual authentication, a printing operation of document data of an unauthenticated user, among the document data stored in the storage unit.

In one embodiment, a method includes accessing sensory data captured by cameras, identifying people in a field of view of the cameras based on facial recognition of the sensory data, detecting actions of one or more of the people based on the sensory data, generating media files with each being associated with one or more of a recording of at least one of the people or at least one of the determined actions, and sending instructions for presenting one or more of the media files to a client system.

A method of processing image data comprising detecting, by a first device, a user input, capturing, at the first device, image data in response to the detection of the user input, sending, by the first device, the image data, upon capturing the image data, sending, by the first device, information either to access the image data for at least one second device while the at least one second device is in the vicinity of the first device, or not otherwise.

A handheld computing device for editing images and a method thereof. The handheld computing device can include a screen, a memory for storing an application for at least one of image acquisition, image uploading, and image editing, and a processor. The handheld computing device can receive a notification message from a first external device over a communication network, the notification message containing location information for accessing a specific image, the location information indicating an internet-address of the specific image, access the specific image by using the location information, display the specific image on the screen, and perform an image editing option on the screen to edit the displayed specific image based on the application stored in the memory. Also, the image editing option can include a selection function to determine a portion of the specific image to be edited by selecting at least one position of an upper left corner and a lower right corner of an expandable window on the displayed specific image.

An information processing system and an information processing apparatus and method for transmitting image data from a portable terminal apparatus, to a different apparatus through a network so that the image data may be managed by the different apparatus. A camcorder image station has a folder for each user of a camcorder and has, in each of the folders, 10 sub folders of album 1 to album 10 to each of which a name is applied in advance. The user of the camcorder transmits images picked up by the user to the camcorder image station so that the images are registered into a predetermined album. The camcorder has an album list of 10 albums of album 1 to album 10 in advance and selects an album of one of the names from within the list to designate an album into which image data should be uploaded.
