Automatically configuring a portable electronic device for accessing a site on a public network is disclosed. The method and system include establishing a connection to at least one server for establishing and maintaining website accounts, and sending information uniquely identifying the electronic device to the at least one server. The at least one server sends user account information to the device, including an account ID and password, created based on the electronic device information. The user account information is stored on the device for use the next time the device accesses the website, whereby the user does not have to enter account information in order to establish the ISP connection or the website account before accessing the public network or, if the user account is not completely set up, to establish the user account a next time the device connects to the at least one server.
System and method for creating photo products using video
A system and method are described for creating photo stories using video. The method includes receiving a user request to upload a user-specified video stream; determining whether the video stream meets one or more predetermined requirements, uploading the video stream; analyzing the video stream to select video frames for extraction based on a set of predetermined frame selection criteria; extracting the selected video frames from the video image; selecting a story book template to be used with the video images; and generating a preview of the story book template with the video images within a graphical user interface, the user editing the story book template with text and/or moving or modifying the video frames within the preview.

This invention relates to creating a narrative description of media content. In an embodiment, a computer-implemented method describes content of a group of images. The group of images includes a first image and a second image. A first object in the first image is recognized to determine a first content data. A second object in the second image is recognized to determine a second content data. Finally, a narrative description of the group of images is determined according to a parameterized template and the first and second content data.

Self-Image Augmentation
Method and system for image augmentation. A captured image of a user in a scene includes a user portion and a background portion with partial scene features cut off at the image frame borders. A first set of imaging parameters is obtained, including the position and orientation of the camera when capturing the image. A background-image is retrieved in accordance with the obtained imaging parameters, from a database that includes imagery of real-world environments. The retrieved background-image is captured at a second set of imaging parameters such that the background-image includes supplementary scene features located beyond the image frame borders of the captured image and supplementing information for the partial scene features of the background portion. An updated image is generated in which the user appears relative to a background that includes the supplementary scene features, by image fusion of the captured image with the background-image.

The evaluation value calculation unit calculates an overall evaluation value by adding a value to an analysis evaluation value of each of the plurality of similar images based on evaluation information, which indicates high evaluation for the plurality of similar images, for each of the groups.

Combinations of (I2) and (P3), (I51) and (P21), (I150) and (P49), (I198) and (P79), (I201) and (P30), (I249) and (P99), (I300) and (P101), and (I301) and (P112) in which similarities between the model images and the user images are equal to or more than a first threshold value are detected. The combination of (I201) and (P30) in which a relative time difference of the imaging time is equal to or more than a second threshold value is eliminated, and the rest combinations are second combinations. From among the second combinations, a model image group and a user image group, which are a collection of similar images, are decided, and the user images similar to the model images attached on a model album are decided from the user image group. A user album is created from the decided user images.

A digital camera with a printer is a digital camera with a printer and includes a communication unit that communicates with a digital camera with a printer that is another apparatus, and an image composition unit that generates a composite image in which a first image captured by the digital camera with a printer that is an owned apparatus and a second image captured by the other apparatus are composited, in which the communication unit transmits the composite image to the other apparatus. A user of the other apparatus can also obtain the composite image. Accordingly, the composite image can be enjoyed by capturing images using a plurality of cameras.
