An image forming apparatus is provided with USB sockets on front and back sides, and includes a determining unit for determining whether or not a USB device inserted to a front side USB socket is a function enhancement device, and a control unit making, when it is determined by the determining unit that a function enhancement device is inserted to the front side USB socket, the USB device unusable and making, when it is determined that a USB device other than the function enhancement device is inserted, the USB device usable. Thus, it is possible to prevent a USB wireless LAN adapter or the like from being used constantly connected to the front side USB socket and thereby to reduce possibility of USB wireless LAN adapter of being damaged or removed.

Cloud-based document management systems are disclosed that provide a direct link between a scanner and cloud storage. In embodiments, a document management system provides a web scanning application that is executable in a web browser. The application can initiate a scan from a scanner in communication with the web browser that is transmitted directly to a remote cloud storage location and indexed by the document management system without requiring storing a copy of the document local to the web browser. Other embodiments allow printing from the web browser directly to the document management system and remote cloud storage. In another aspect, a receipt printer buffer is provided that can provide electronic receipts that may be directly uploaded to the cloud-based document management system.

Provided is an image forming system for pull printing that does not require a server and does not require input of keys or the like at the time of output. A division part divides pull print document data into a plurality of blocks including a critical block that includes information required for printing and transfer blocks that include other information. A storing and transmitting part transmits the transfer blocks of the blocks to at least two of preserving apparatuses. A critical block acquisition part acquires the critical block. A transfer block acquisition part acquires each of the transfer blocks of the document data corresponding to the critical block from any of the preserving apparatuses. A document reproduction part collectively reproduces the critical block and each of the transfer blocks into the document data.

The mobile device may receive feedback from the server regarding the acceptability of submitted photos/video, and if the server determines that any of the submitted photos/video is unacceptable, the mobile device may capture additional photos/video until all of the data are deemed acceptable. In addition, the server may interface with third party entities such as repair shops and may generate a payment for compensating a claimant for repair of the insured item.
